Reviews for The Problem with Purity

This is a very complicated and interesting tale you're weaving - a gem of a new fic to pick up. I am thoroughly enjoying myself, though I will confess to impatience. Severus' obvious jealousy and Hermione's inability to figure it out is driving me nuts! When will one of the two of them see through it? And Ron's character is...a shame. He suits this story, but I'm always sorry to see him revert to childishness. Are we going to see some more Harry-Draco interaction at any point? There hasn't been much more than longing to date... Excellent job! I hope the next chapter is through the queue soon!

Author's Response: Thank you. Your patience will likely be tested for a while longer ;) . Both Hermione and Harry can see that Severus is behaving ... oddly, and they might even go so far as to identify it as jealousy, but just as Severus is getting more and more mired in his belief that they're a couple, Hermione, especially, thinks that she understands the source of his upset. He's *always* gotten weird when it comes to the Marauders and Harry. He was enraged beyond all sense when it came to Sirius in PoA, he continues to be petty with him and Remus, and he does his best to make Harry miserable and embarrassed in GoF. The fact that he's displaying similar behaviour again now seems like an extension of that to her; to her mind, he's upset that the last of the Potters is dating (and she's in for it because she's the one he's dating), not because *she*'s dating. Like Severus, Hermione's deductive reasoning skills are not at their best when her emotions are deeply involved. As for Ron, I more or less agree with you, but I think he brought it upon himself. It *is* a shame when he acts a childish prat, but it's not just a plot device. I honestly see him as maturing more slowly than the other two, and I think that that's how he would react in that situation. There *will* be HP/DM interaction eventually, I swear. Right now, it just sucks to be Harry pining. I'm glad you're enjoying the fic, and I appreciate that you took the time to review. The next chapter should be up by Thursday ^_^

Could it be that Severus may be so annoyed Harry and Hermione's close relationship that he's blinded to the truth? Even his spying skills could be off if his emotions are in the way. Loving the story, I am waiting for more.

Author's Response: I firmly believe that yes, Severus can miss a lot when his emotions are engaged. I'm glad you're enjoying the fic, and I appreciate that you took the time to let me know. The next chapter should be up by Thursday ^_^

Ron is such a git! I'm sort of surprised at quite how left out he is in this story, but with only two Pure Adults it was inevitable. Him being so mean does make it easier to not deal with him as much in the plot, and I'm quite happy with a leading duo rather than a leading trio. Severus is rather dreaful in this chapter. I thought that he'd be slightly more openly repentant, or at least Hermione might catch a glimpse of a horrified look, just so that she knows he cares. To me it's quite obvious that he's acting like an enraged bull in a china shop about her and Harry; how does Harry not notice? Another great addition to this wonderful story.

Author's Response: Honestly, I usually get annoyed when Ron disappears from a fic without good reason, too. I tried to include him, I really did, but once the two Pure Adults were Head Boy and Head Girl with their own rooms, it was almost impossible to have Ron around, especially in Hermione's POV; despite how it might look, he and Harry spent a lot of their free time together when Hermione was in class, but we don't see any of that. So many of the conversations that Hermione and Harry have need to be private, and too many filler scenes with "Ron came down to their common room to do homework for a few hours" would have bogged the story down (and it's really already long enough as it is :D ). His being a prat is both a plot device and a genuine belief that, especially with the revelation being made publicly like that, it was the only way he would react (given the level of maturity that I still see him to be at, anyway). Severus can be just as stubborn as Ron when he wants to be, and he's definitely taken the line that he's *supposed* to be teaching them dangerous spells and therefore injuries are a hazard of the training. I don't think at this point in their relationship that he would be willing to show any upset in front of Hermione *and* Harry; he might have done it for just Hermione. As for Harry (and Hermione for that matter) not finding Severus's behaviour strange; he has a long and established history of behaving irrationally when it comes to Harry and the Marauders (including, by extension, Hermione and Harry's supposed relationship and Harry's "publicity" during the Triwizard Tournament), so they really don't find it that out-of-character or look too deeply for the reasons behind it. They think they know why he's being a prat, anyway. Thanks again for reviewing ^_^

Well, well, that's interesting - as long as Severus continues to keep an eye on Hermione, or Harry, or his general surroundings, he now knows about both of them being the Pure Adults. Personally, I was betting Severus was a Pure Adult, as well, though his scroll hadn't been publicized.

Author's Response: Severus, in this author's opinion (for this fic), can be remarkably blind once his emotions are engaged. There are things that he refuses to see and leaps that he makes that defy cool logic. He has firmly grasped the wrong end of the stick when it comes to Hermione and Harry, and the wards on Room One have not allowed him to eavesdrop on the conversation in this chapter. It would indeed have been interesting to have Severus as another Pure Adult, but alas, he is not. Thanks for taking the time to review again ^_^

I'm in love with this story. I am glad you don't feel the need to rush things. If there was any way to get a hold of the completed saga? I'd be willing to be a set of eyes and beta. I've done 4 years of it already. Just let me know, I'd be in your debt. Cybrokat@aol.com

Author's Response: Thank you. I'm glad that you're looking forward to a non-rushed fic, because that is definitely something I can promise here :D . Thanks for taking the time to review ^_^

Great chapter! Although I would have like to see either Harry or Hermione pop Ron a good one for that cow comment... Cant wait for the next chapter!

Author's Response: Thank you. I had these horrible images of little birds attacking Ron, and I simply refused to go there :D . Thanks again for reviewing ^_^

She should have told Ron that she'd always assumed him to be lactose intolerant. :) Totally engaging story, I'm in line with everyone here who's been praising the platonic Harry/Hermione relationship. Well done.

Author's Response: LOL . I'm glad you're enjoying the story. Writing the Harry/Hermione friendship was lots of fun because it was amusing and dependable even if everything else was going all to hell. Thanks for taking the time to review ^_^

Ahhhh... I love this! Too bad our dear Snape wasn't lurking around the corner for this conversation... too bad Hermione checked the privacy wards... Alas, alas. :) Hope you update soon.

Author's Response: LOL Thank you. Yup, poor Severus is still running around with the wrong end of the stick firmly grasped in his hands. The next chapter should be up by Thursday. Thanks for taking the time to review ^_^
