Reviews for The Problem with Purity

I really love this story. As as it goes when one reads so much fanfiction, I fail to remember if I've reviewed yet or not. So if I am repetitive, I apologize. But this is definitely one of my favorites.. possibly my second favorite. Hypnobarb's Looking for Magic, being number one. but... oh it's close. It's a very close race. But i guess as yours is in Hogwarts, and her's in post, they are in different categories. and thus. you are first in a Hogwarts category. I am very much rambling, I'm sorry. I really do love this story. I am however ready for Severus to get the stick out of his ass. Ah. patience, patience, yes I know, I know. My kudos to you. Keep up the good work. Oh and if you haven't, read Looking for Magic.. on ff.net... She shares your attention to detail, which is a huge plus in my book. Once again, my apologies for my ramblings... it is late, and I am tired... and that makes me ramble. Happy writing Blessed Be.

Author's Response: I'm so glad that you're enjoying it (and that it has earned such a high ranking in your list of favourites); you've not actually reviewed before, so thanks for taking the time now. Severus is ... very stubborn, and that's really all I can say about that. :D I only read completed fic, so once Looking For Magic is done, I will definitely give it a go. Thanks again for reviewing ^_^

Lovely to see another chapter up. It seemed odd to me that Hermione did not seem overly concerned about the blood being taken. Maybe I was just reading awkwardly though. Thanks for another great chapter and have a great vacation!

Author's Response: Hermione and Harry's blood is still Glamoured from back before Scrimgeour tried to test it the first time, so the two of them are okay, and that's why they're not stressed at all. When Harry asks Hermione if Voldemort is capable of messing up their blood test, that's when he's checking to make sure that the Glamour is still in place. Hermione barely even thinks about it, because she knows that her Glamour isn't about to fail. The vacation had a few hiccoughs, but otherwise it was lovely. Thanks again for reviewing ^_^

Your take on werewolves is an interesting one, and I really like your idea for the Weresbane potion. That cliff at the end is sky-high... but it is a good way to keep us coming back for more! I'm almost glad I was late reading the last two chapters, now I've only got two days to wait... ;-) (I do hope Harry is not silly enough to mention that Remus was there most of the night - Severus's blood pressure is high enough as it is)

Author's Response: Cliffies for fanfic are definitely an established convention :D . Makes me understand Dickens and serials much better. Harry does not have a death wish ;) . Thanks, as always, for the review ^_^

*sigh* Ron's such a stupid git... It's sad, but I suppose it is consistent with his character in canon, in that he has a habit of misunderstanding things and reacting badly where both Harry and Hermione are concerned, and generally being immature and insensitive, at least until the end of DH. That comment about the milk from the cow... I'm almost sorry Harry didn't get to hex him. Severus is being even more spiteful than usual; jealousy does not become him. I rather thought Hermione had figured that bit out, but I guess not, if her comments to Harry at the very end of the chapter are anything to go by. I wonder how long it will take her and Severus to clue in on what's really going on. That Skin Burning Hex is quite a nasty piece of work - your invention? ^^ Am enjoying this tremendously, it's every bit as good as I knew it would be!

Author's Response: Ron writes himself in moments like that; I think the precedent is very much established in canon, and while I haven't made him mature as much as Hermione and Harry probably have versus canon, I think that's an established precedent, too ;) . Harry probably *should* have hexed Ron; Hermione can be too sensible for her own good sometimes. What Hermione thinks and what she tells Harry are not always the same thing, as it's in her best interest that Severus and Harry get along. But she hasn't worked out the *right* cause of Severus's jealousy. And since the fic is 600K.... I'm sure you can imagine that there's a bit of a wait in there. I don't specifically remember reading the Skin-burning Hex anywhere else, so it might well be my invention. Creepy thought, that ;) . Very glad you're enjoying it and appreciate that you let me know ^_^

Finally a new chap! :) Please, don't take as long to post the next one, will you? Really great story!

Author's Response: I'm afraid it's almost always once a week, though the exact time it will get posted varies thanks to the queue. Glad you're enjoying it and thanks for letting me know ^_^

I have really been enjoying your story. You have a very original concept, I think, and your writing is quite good. The only glitch so far, in my opinion, is that "were" is actually Old English for "man." My understanding is that your usage of "Were" in Hermione's cure is the opposite - the beastial part of the werewolf. Since it's your fiction, of course, you can make it mean whatever you would like, but it's a small inconsistency with the etymology of the term werewolf. I also enjoy the interaction with Fawkes that Hermione and Harry experience. Hermione's thoughts in a previous chapter hinted at Harry's Animagus form - I hope to see some elaboration soon.

Author's Response: My Old English teacher is grumbling at me from his office, and I should *really* have remembered Alan Rickman and the DADA class scene in the POA movie, shouldn't I have? I was carefully trying to differentiate between the wolf bit and the beast bit, and so I grabbed up the other half of the word without thinking about it carefully enough. It *is* an inconsistency with the etymology, but we're stuck with it now; sorry about that. Glad you're enjoying the interaction with Fawkes; we're progressing slowly towards Harry's form, but we will get there eventually. Thanks for taking the time to review ^_^

After the end of the previous chapter, I was thinking about Remus' visit, and wondering if werewolves would have some heightened sense that clued him in on Harry and Hermione's Pure status, just like some of the other magical creatures. Instead you focused on much more interesting things, like the werewolf cure. I thought it was interesting to include "Hermione's" reasoning about a cure, author's often just jump straight in with their idea and opinion. I think it's funny that Remus and Harry don't say much about the "blazing row" between Severus and Hermione. I accept your explanation that everyone assumes Severus is an unreasonable person, but surely such a heated conversation requires slightly more comment, especially as the two worked together companionably for the Order such a short time ago. Either way, I love that Severus made the potion too, then got annoyed that Hermione still has a lab, but also curious about where it is. It's great that he's so jealous of Hermione and Harry, and that they're both so oblivious! I've found your last sentence very frustrating. You could have ended quite nicely with Remus leaving and Hermione going back to bed, but now I'm going to have a week of wondering: will Severus see Hermione in her pyjamas? what are her pyjamas? will he see her in her own room, not Harry's? will he see the door to the lab? will they have another fight, or will they make peace? will he realise Remus has been there and jump to the wrong conclusions? So, you see, one sentence is indeed wreaking havoc with my imagination. However, as a result, I'm even more expectant for next week's chapter! Great job!

Author's Response: Since werewolves are still essentially human (in my fic, anyway), I don't class them in the same way as the intrinsically magical creatures like phoenixes and unicorns; Remus *does* have heightened senses, but not to sense Pure Adults in particular. There's some strange theory in my fic that I try to explain as coherently as possible so that my readers won't be all at sea all the time. As far as Severus and Hermione's argument goes, Remus *does* try to bring it up, but he allows himself to be shut down. And since he *did* go to Hogwarts with Severus and has witnessed him be a complete prat, he really does understand, to my mind, that Severus blows hot and cold and sometimes there are great big fights and then everything is under control again. There's no way that he's going to try to talk to Severus about it, and what sort of a discussion would he really have with Hermione once she makes it clear she doesn't want to go into particulars? They basically agree that Severus can be a bit of a disaster, and that's it. No matter how much Harry might want to know what the hell is going on, when Hermione doesn't want to tell him, he's not going to get anything out of her and he knows it; he's also had time to realize previously that things are not going terribly well, because he knows about her new lab. Were we in Harry's or Remus's POV, you would likely see them theorizing and curious and what have you, but from Hermione's POV, that's as much as there is. Your questions are what make cliffies fun (and evil). Glad you're enjoying it, and I really appreciate the continuing reviews ^_^

oh my oh my, this is great. I tend to only like HGSS wip's and I had been looking for the perfect one. You, my dear, will have me as a reader of this story until the last word is typed, and that of clarified certainty. You are an absolutly amazing writer and can't wait for the next chapter. Plus, you get bonus points for writing ''tête-à-tête'' correctly and with all the right accents at the right place. Just like nothing puts me more down than bad use of french words and meanings in an english story, nothing cheers me up more thanit being well-written and tasteful. I'm not very good at giving a review without babbling on more than I have to so I will leave it at that.

Author's Response: Thank you very much. I like having all accents in all the right places, too; I'm English but get plenty of exposure to French since I'm Canadian, and I don't like mangled words ^_^ . I'm glad that you're enjoying my fic, and I don't mind any babbling ;) . Thanks for taking the time to review, and I look forward to your being with me for the long haul ^_^
