Reviews for The Problem with Purity

Hmmm - who is it now? Severus? Viktor? One of many Slytherins? I'm enjoying your involvement of Slytherin House in this story, and the way at least some of them are looking to switch sides - much better than JKR's en masse walk-out at the Final Battle in DH. Good chapter...and are things maybe beginning to mend between Snape and Hermione? Is her apparent interest in Viktor what he needed to get off his arse? Good chapter, as usual. Can't wait for next Thursday!

Author's Response: LOL There are lots of options for a confrontation in the corridor, aren't there? I'm glad you're enjoying the Slytherin involvement. The ordered en masse walk-out was one of the things that unsettled me most about DH. I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter but I have no comment to make (of course, lol) about how things are going between Severus and Hermione. Thanks for taking the time to review again. ^_^

You know, I think I'll write to somebody and request Thursdays taking the place of Mondays and Saturdays as well, so I can get such a great update at least three times a week :D Good job and because I liked the whole chapter I won't hold the evil cliffie against you :)

Author's Response: *grins* If you can actually get someone to institute it, I'll do my best. ;) I'm glad you're going easy on me for the cliffie. Thanks for taking the time to review again. ^_^

I always look forward to the Thursday update. As always, very well written. I was glad to see Hermione fail at the spell, it's better for her not to be perfect. I do think she should tell Harry & Draco to get a room already, tho! Thanks for the update and keep up the great work!

Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter and that you find Hermione's imperfections more marked here. Hermione is very happy for Harry and Draco--and I think she feels that Harry's embarrassment is her best chance of getting good behaviour, lol. Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. ^_^

Another lovely chapter. I am glad Pansy is switching sides, I think I have been growing fond of her scathing comments along with Hermione. I am wondering if Hermione's inability to transfigure herself into a bookshelf has anything to do with a) solace b) her unicorn animagus. Possibly Hermione is not meant to be anything other than a sentient being. I do like your line about freedom not being freedom if it comes with strings attached, it was very astute. It rather bothers me that Dumbledore routinely puts a calming draft in tea- even that which is offered to students, it strikes me as being a spot unethical. Thank you for this lovely chapter.

Author's Response: I'm glad that you enjoyed the chapter, particularly Pansy; it's been fun to write her and explore her character a bit more given how little we actually see of her in canon. It's nice to see you coming up with theories about what's going on with Hermione's inability to transform. It's definitely a mild calming draught in the tea, and I would keep in mind that for the most part (at least as far as the impression I get from canon), very few students other than Harry spend any length of time in the headmaster's office and are offered tea. However, the fact remains that the headmaster is a very ... interesting man. Thanks for taking the time to review again. ^_^

Wonderful chapter again, thank you. I admire your art of character developing, especially how Severus slowly becomes 'tame', lol.

Author's Response: I'm glad that you enjoyed the chapter and the character development. The, er, "taming process" is a slow one. ;) Thanks for taking the time to review again. ^_^

Le gasp, a spell that Hermione can't perform? Surely 'tis impossible! :) Another great chapter, ending in another cliffhanger that makes me wish I could steal the rest of the unposted chapters and just read them all. You're fantastic! I don't know how, but you wow me every week! Except for next week, when I'll sadly be deprived of the Internet, and so I'll have to wait TWO WHOLE WEEKS to find out who tugged on her arm. :( Ah well, it'll just give me more time to speculate. *practices stroking imaginary beard and assuming pensive appearance* :o) Thanks for a lovely update! ~SK824~

Author's Response: LOL It has to happen very occasionally. ;) You're not the only one who wants the unposted bit, but I refused my mother, so don't feel bad. :P I hope you're having fun wherever you're without internet (or at least being productive or something) and the suspense doesn't kill you. ;) Thanks for taking the time to review again. ^_^

Occasionally, it's a welcome change to see Hermione fail at something, just so she's not too boringly perfect. I imagine there is a particular reason in this case, though, because it's something she should have done easily. As for the seizer of the arm - I'm not going to say Severus, because that one's too obvious. Could it be Ron? He can't stay out in the cold forever.

Author's Response: Working with Hermione is always an interesting endeavour. My friend and I were on the HP Lexicon the other day looking at the Encyclopedia of Spells (I can't remember what we were actually looking up anymore). Hermione's use of them is listed quite frequently, and the only spell we came cross that listed any problems for her was the Patronus--with the quotation from Harry noting that this was the *only* spell that she has trouble with--and she's still abel to do it. Now, this is Harry's POV, of course, so it's not necessarily accurate, but he does see her doing a lot of spell-work including very advanced work like the Protean Charm as a matter of course. She's generally the type to keep doing things until she gets them (or occasionally never to do them again, as after she loses chess to Ron ;) ). I'm glad to see you theorising about the arm-seizer. Thanks for taking the time to review again. ^_^

You. Are. Notorious. For. Cliff hangers!!!!!!!!!! Okay, okay, okay, okay, that had BETTER be Snape this time. Dx Great chapter btw, but I am shocked by Hermione's failure in transifuration. I'm sure there is a perfectly reasonable explanation behind it. There HAS to be. w00tah, can't wait for the next chapter!

Author's Response: LOL Yup, the cliffies are legion. :D I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter and are hunting for reasons for Hermione's transfiguration issues. Thanks for taking the time to review again here. ^_^
