I love how deeply interested in the moon you are. I think it's very cool that you have a moon phase watch (I've got one too!) One thing about the moon in your story that confuses me is this- the new moon at the moment of the actual new moon, was "just covered by the shadow of the Earth and thus invisible to them—over England." If I understand you correctly, you had the nearly new moon rising at a bit after five in the morning and the actual new moon (defined, roughly, as the point at which the angle between the sun and the moon is closest to zero degrees) happen at just before noon. At that point the moon was located in the visible sky, as you said. However, it was not in the shadow of the Earth. This would be a lot easier to explain with a diagram, but the line-up would be Earth.....Moon............Sun (roughly a straight line). The sunlight hits the moon only on the side of the moon that faces the sun. That means that the side of the moon that faces Earth is not illuminated directly by the sun. The side of the moon facing the Earth is not shadowed by the Earth, but by the moon itself, if that makes sense. We don't see the moon because our sky is so bright from scattered sunlight and the moon is so close to the sun in the sky. Does that make sense? Sorry to get all astronomy nerdy, but this is part of why I love your story.

Okay. So. Probably one of the most anticipated chapter in the lot for me, after last week's cliffhanger... and by that I mean I may have spent some time last night obsessivly hitting the refresh button... and you so delivered. I mean, things were at such a stand off that I wasn't sure they could realistically be resolved (mostly because Severus and his mad ambiguity-- which, after a careful reread, I think I understand) and yet, resolved it is. Or partially resolved. And it's not just terribly believable based on what we already know, but also revealing of things that had, up until now, been more subtle. By which I of course mean Severus is finally acting like he gives a rats ass... and can I say how is it that you have a character for whom being a pretty resonable guy is pretty much tantamount to saying I love you, and yet... I still love him. I also love how realistic the whole situation is, how Hermione is still playing her feelings close to the vest while they work to rebuild something... ---I liked the return of the oxygen being sucked out of the room metaphore. It was one of my favorite devices of chapter 23, and such an apporopriate time to recall it. And really, an awesome metaphore in general. I know that feeling. ---- You know, the only thing that's ever really bothered me about this story is the seeming indestructability of Hermione. And that's mostly cause it's been done so awfully before, that I think all fanfic readers shy away from any character who seems too perfect. But I was thinking about it, and in the universe you've created, it would actually be more unlikely for anyone (except perhaps Harry) to be able to disarm her, especially after she achieved her full power... Basically what's going on right now is I feel I should leave some sort of constructive critisism, but I'm a bit at a loss for things to critque... I guess you can be a bit wordy with the technical aspects of things, but at the same time, I kinda like that, cause my mind works in the same way-- when I think up a plot, I spend half the time working out the technical minutia and such. So I think what I'm getting at is this is an altogether enjoyable story, and I'm sure I speak for... well, all your other well wishers when I say thank you for sharing it. Enjoy your break from work and see you in the near future!

Thank you so much for the update. I am in one way glad that they are at speaking terms again, Hermione doesn't need or deserve the extra preassure she has endured due to Severus insane issues. I do think she left him of the hook much to easily though. Not for speaking with him, that is what grown ups due instead of missusing their powers, throw insults and nasty hexes the others way etc. Not for believing him on his word either, I will still grant him the benefit of being a man of his words, but maybe Hermione should make sure to remember his other words too. I do hold grugdes, and unlike Hermione I don't find it acceptable for Severus to not have to make amends for what he has put her through. We are not talking just a few harsh words here, there has been a lot of hard words and accusations, dangerous violence, and if not exactly murder attempts, at least attacks that he very well knew could kill her, without that stopping him. I did like Severus in this chapter, I truly did, but it doesn't make me forgive the Severus of the last 30 odd chapters or so. Hopefully he won't hurt Hermione again like he has done so far, but abusers seldom change their ways. Wonderfully written as always, and I am very much looking forward to read more of this magnificient story. I don't have to like Severus for loving it!

My reaction to the next chapter summary is simply, "No!" but I do see there's another twenty chapters left. Thank you for the glut of one on one time between them, the development of friendship based on shared knowledge and interest and the (brief) sense of relief that they are finally on track.

This was brilliant. And yay! A conversation (or two) that did not degenerate into shouting. :D :D <3333333

I found myself humming while reading this chapter. It wasn't until I had finished that I realised just what the song was. Have you ever heard Simple Gifts? Feel free to skip this if you've no interest. Tis a gift to be simple Tis a gift to be free Tis a gift to come down Where we ought to be And when we find ourselves In a place just right Twill be in the valley of love and delight When true simplicity is gained To bow and to bend we shant be ashamed To turn, turn twill be out delight Til by turning, turning we come round right. This chapter, all over. I feel innordinantly pleased and smug for something that I didn't participate in in any way. This was delightful. So light and graceful. It was refreshing. Thank you. ~Mia

*Smile* They are finally getting along *sigh* now i am wondering how long it will last. I am really glad that she showed Severus her memory. Maybe now he will understand a little more about how much she cares about him. I really needed a break this week and this chapter was perfect. Not alot of angst and plenty of Severus/Hermione getting along time. Thank you for another great chapter. I can't wait to see what doesn't go Hermione's way next week.

I, too, am imagining what wort of mischief she could get up to with Severus...and I look forward to finding out! Lovely chapter.
