| Ouch! It really speaks to your gifts as a writer that I was seriously depressed after reading this chapter. You write Nasty Severus very well - so well in fact, that I am beginning to wonder why a bright a powerful witch like Hermione continues to be attracted to someone so caustic and derogatory? Can he redeem himself after this debacle? How will the students react to Harry and Draco's relationship? Will the two of them beat Severus to a pulp for how he has treated Hermione? Anxiously staying tuned until next week . . . . . Author's Response: To say that nasty!Severus is an integral part of Severus's character isn't *quite* what I want to say lest it be misunderstood, but it's probably as close as I can get right now. There are things that Severus reacts poorly to. His past (and/or present) is definitely checkered. I don't think the nasty bits can be ignored (which is not to say that Hermione should accept them in the sort of way that would leave her open to being regularly abused). Really, I can't explain myself completely without explaining Severus, and I'm leaving that to occur in fic so that my readers are not spoiled. So you must wait to see the answers to your questions (but they're good questions :) ). Thanks for taking the time to review again. ^_^ | |||

| Ho;y crap. I was so not expecting this to actually happen in this chapter. I mean, I imagined it might, but I never thought it really would. Poor Hermione. Such drama. I always get so sad when I get to the end of your chapters cause I have to wait another week to find out what happens. <3 Author's Response: But at least you know that I'm always going to follow through and you'll find out what happens next even if you have to wait each week. *smiles hopefully* There is indeed a lot of drama in Hermione's life right now. | What an absolute bastard!!! Not that I really expected anything less.. but I did think that maybe he would... I don't know... have a little more tact... *growls*
I hope Harry and Draco figure out what he did, and then give Severus hell... accidently spilling the fact that she liked him, of course... lol. Author's Response: Severus? Tactful? LOL He used up his very small allotment of tact while they were having sex so once he wakes up in the morning, it's just ... a whole lot of crap. | Silver Birch, thank you so much for this story. It's a joy to read and I can't wait for each chapter.
I don't read WIPs as a rule, but you may count this story of yours as one of about five or six exceptions I've made over the last ten years.
I'm not a big reviewer (shame on me, I know), but I really wanted to tell you that this last chapter was absolutely captivating. I can't remember the last time a story line held my attention for hours after reading. I even had trouble going to sleep - my mind just kept on analyzing what I had read.
So please keep up this amazing work. I can't imagine what will happen in the rest of the story but if I use the beginning as a reference I expect lots of hours of reading pleasure, unexpected twists, romance, angst and (hopefully) a happy ending.

| Poor Hermione! Honestly, Severus was just being a real bastard...there was no reason for him to be so cruel. Gods, I know I say this every time, but, I really can't wait for the next chapter. You write an excellent story! | ARGH!!!!! I know there was probably reasoning behind Severus acting like an A-hole i strongly doubt that he'd honestly the SHE was the one using HIM. or maybe he would. I guess I'll have wait for next week.
