| Great update. I really liked the interaction between Hermione and Severus. I mean really, Harry is blind not to see who Hermione likes, and who likes her in return. lol. | Ah, how I love this story. The character development is so believable and happens at a good rate - not so slow as to be annoying, but not so fast as to be unbelievable. I am especially enjoying your portrayal of Snape, you've struck an incredible balance here - a portrait of a very intelligent man but with some obvious issues with interpersonal relationships.
I was very amused by both the reaction to the decorations by Dumbledore and by his revenge. I am hoping to see some further action from Snape's grudge, lol!
I hope you're feeling better, doesn't it suck how you always have to take a vacation from a vacation? I just went through the same thing, getting sick while on vacation and I feel like it was worse than staying put, lol. Author's Response: I'm so glad that you're enjoying it and that you find the pacing and the characters plausible. I really struggled to make Severus believable; both he and Hermione have some incredible blind spots for all they are very clever most of the time. Although Severus does carry a grudge, he also has a lot of other things to worry about right now; getting revenge on Albus, amusing as it would be, is not at the very top of the list. The stomach bug came and went, fortunately, so I am feeling completely fine now. I could have used a week at home after the vacation just to answer reviews, but what can you do? I hope that you, too, are completely recovered, and I appreciate, as always, that you took the time to review ^_^ | |||

| Oh my goodness!!!! I am so happy, somehow, I completely managed to miss the bonus chapter so I was just going to morosely wander over here to re-read the last few chapters and then, just like a miracle on 34th, there's a chapter I haven't read! Thank you for the hugest smile I've had all day.

| This is progressing at a good pace; something is always happening but it's not too much, nor too quick. It's good to see Severus laugh, and I hope it's a turning point for him. | I loved this chapter. We've finally turned a corner: Severus Snape has decided he'd rather have Hermione in his life and attached to Harry Potter, rather than not in his life at all. I think that the last chapter with the forgiveness speech sealed the deal, and now we get to see them moving on. And, for Hermione, she gets a brilliant gift. I love that Dumbledore has been trumped, and I love that Severus will know Hermione was the one to do it for him. Maybe Albus will be convinced to do the Hall like this forever? Again, the Harry/Hermione interaction is well appreciated; I think they make a good brother/sister combination, and it's good to see Harry healing from such a rotten upbringing. I do think it's funny that Ron still is being a twat, but I really don't miss him, so I say "good riddance"! As a side point: I remember a few chapters back when Hermione was doing her early Christmas shopping, you mentioned she got something for Severus, but you didn't tell us what it was here! Perhaps he'll mention it in the next chapter? Author's Response: I'm glad that you enjoyed it. Progress in this fic as far as it goes for Severus and Hermione pretty much always comes in fits and bursts; Severus has a lot of trouble putting the past completely behind him, and Hermione has her own blind spots. I wanted to give Harry a completely stable sibling-like relationship; as you say, it's about time for him to have the opportunity to heal from his time with the Dursleys. Especially given how little Ron can be involved in everything that's going on with Harry and Hermione right now, I think it's definitely GoF all over again. You sort of have to infer what Hermione was getting for Severus, but it does come up next chapter, yes. Thanks again for the review ^_^ | |||
