| A surprise update - I wasn't hoping for one before Thursday.
I'm glad we had the gift exchange discussion; it was really funny to read as the pair of them coyly skirted around the truth. It does seem like poor Severus is getting mixed signals though: Hermione makes a big fuss over him, goes out of her way to do something special for him, but then does the same for all her other close male friends (Harry, Remus...). I wonder if he doesn't just feel jealous, but confused as well. Is she just being friendly or could it be something more? Dare he hope? It doesn't help that Hermione has such great intuition with all other relationships but seems to fail miserably when it comes to the inner workings of Severus Snape's heart! I really enjoy them sparring though, and it will mean that the final resolution will be all the more worth it!
Btw, when you say "next" Thursday, do you mean this week? I'll keep my fingers crossed for an affirmative response! Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed the discussion. Although neither of them are willing to admit it, I think that's a lot what flirting looks like. :D Both Hermione and Severus are in a tough spot, poor dears; neither of them is certain how the other feels, and neither is willing to make the necessary declaration without knowing the other one's heart beforehand. It leaves them both in a bit of a bind, and since they're both emotional about the subject, neither of them is at their objective best. Hermione, as you say, misses the boat half the time when it comes to Severus. And yes, I meant this Thursday, as you no doubt know by now. Thanks again for the review ^_^ | |||

| Severus is such a prat sometimes. But Hermione is being a bit thick, I think. Surely she should at least suspect what all the signs mean by now? Good chapter. I liked their conversation in Snape's office and Dumbledore's ambush. That seems like something he would do. Author's Response: Yes, he is, and yes, she is. :D Hermione has grown up with a Severus who has flown absolutely off the handle over Potters and Marauders without being the slightest bit romantically involved with any of them. She probably *should* be able to make the leap, but she can be just as guilty as Severus of assuming on past behaviour and missing the obvious when she's very emotionally involved. Albus can be very silly sometimes ^_^ . Thanks again for taking the time to review. | |||

I love the conversation about holiday gifts between Hermione and Severus, I thought it was perfectly written. I also think that Harry will be a perfectly jealous boyfriend when (or if but I hopefully doubt it's going to be an if) he finally gets the man of his dreams! ----
I adore your Fawkes and was a bit sad to not see him as much in this chapter. I love how you made him a character all on his own and how you make him communicate. ----
Thank merlin I'm not working on thursday! I'm getting tired of having to rush to read my favourites before work (bu then again, I just re-read them again after to make sure I didn't miss out on anything!) ----- So anyhow, welcome back! Author's Response: LOL We'd get through this fic much more quickly if you guys could just write in the very obvious things that you see and they don't, wouldn't we? Florida actually had many good parts, just the one glaring bad part and the crap coming back. But it was very beautiful and everyone was super friendly. Fawkes really grew into a character in his own right without my even trying, but he can't be present all the time. | It's so ironic that Hermione is perfectly aware of how Tonks felt about seeing Remus and Hermione in an embrace, but she doesn't seem to realize that Severus' reactions might have a similar meaning. Even if he himself doesn't realize it. Great interactions between everyone ... I especially loved Severus reaction to the, erm, unusually tasteful decor of the great hall and the banter with Hermione in his office. BTW, I'm eagerly awaiting Harry's next attempts at becoming an animagus. Well done! Author's Response: Hermione is really very bright, but even she has blind spots; it's a lot easier for her to see something in front of her that she's not emotionally caught up in. Since Severus can act like a spiteful bastard towards *everyone* and Harry in particular, she just doesn't read the right sort of jealous in his behaviour towards her. | Another Fabulous Chapter!!!! Your character interactions are fantastic.I love the way everything is developing between the characters and can't wait to see how things progress. I hope we get to hear more about Hermione's Wolfbane experiment soon. If she pulls it off Severus' reaction should be priceless. Keep up the great work. Author's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
