Reviews for The Problem with Purity

Yet again, a great chapter! I'm happy that Severus wasn't yelling at Hermione when he caught her sneaking back in. That was a somewhat nice moment between them and it really did sound like me might be concerned about her.. before he turned the conversation to the final battle of course and distracted her off of the realization! It was very easy to understand Hermione's plan during the meeting, which was great! I'd been a little confused up until that moment on exactly what was going to happen, and it's nice to have a better idea now. :) I can't wait to see what happens next! Thursday is quickly becoming my favorite day of the week!! :D

Author's Response: I'm glad that you enjoyed the chapter so much and have worked out a rationale for Severus's behaviour and actions. He's definitely a Slytherin. ;) The purpose of the meeting was definitely to lay out the plan before everyone, so it's nice to hear that you found it elucidated the matter. I'm glad you're looking forward to what's coming up next and that you're enjoying Thursdays so much. Thanks for taking the time to review again. ^_^

This has been a great week. First the movie and now a two for one chapter. Once again you have out done yourself. I loved these chapters. The reactions were great and the H/S discussion was perfect. Now can Severus admitt that he wants to help instead of acting like he has to help. I don't really hold out hope on that one thou. If Harry and Draco weren't sharing the link with Hermione I am sure they would both be blushing alot of the time. Once again I will have to find my almost non-existant patience and wait for next week to feed my addiction again. Hugs and Kisses for the great chapter keep up the great work.

Author's Response: The stars were well-aligned for HP last week, weren't they? I'm glad you enjoyed the big chapter and are looking forward to seeing how it's going to turn out with Severus. It might be safer for the continued academic success of Harry and Draco that they can't MindSpeak privately all the time. ;) Thanks, as always, for the review. ^_^

That was lovely. You are one of the few authors of fandom who can actually construct a quality original story. It's true you borrowed Rowling's characters and universe but what you did with them/it is totally new, unheard of, different, original, and above all, amazing. I'm sure you'd do just as well trying to write sth from scratch, in your own universe and with original characters, but don't try just yet - I want you to finish this first :D However, I'd be happy to read anything you write in the future, because not only do you know how to construct an interesting, believable, well-thought-out and engaging story but your style of writing is unbelievable as well (as I've said before, numerous times, I know :)). You can create tension, humour, elation, sadness and through it all the story never gets boring or too long. The pace is perfect and you always leave the reader wanting for more. Truly an exceptional story and I'm sure it will become a classic here on Sycophant Hex and in HP fandom in general.

Author's Response: *hugs* I'm delighted that you're enjoying my fic so much attach so many splendid adjectives to it. I've always thought that people who look down on fanfic have never tried to write it; although fic authors *do* take established characters/settings, we (can) then go truly interesting and different places with them (sort of like a sequel, actually, and who looks down on a published author for writing a sequel to one of their books?) There is some *awesome* fanfic out there (but I agree that it's buried amongst a fair bit of drivel.) I love to write and have certainly considered writing as a desired career. I've been writing since grade 4, and while most of the early stuff is, of course, completely childish and needs to be buried in a drawer somewhere, it's actually kind of interesting to look at the evolution bit by bit over the years. It's all a journey, and The Problem with Purity has definitely been an integral part of that. The positive feedback that I've received for it (as well as the concrit) has given me much food for thought for eventual original fic in the future. Thanks, as always, for the review. ^_^

Yay.... it feels like two chapters :D Brilliant... and Severus-Hermione interaction again!

Author's Response: LOL Almost makes me feel like I should break the chapters up more frequently. ;) I'm glad you enjoyed Severus and Hermione in a room again. :D Thanks for another review. ^_^

Bliiiiisssss, what a lovely long chapter. I really enjoyed it. I liked the explanation of why Hermione is Berit. Incidentally, I tried to be clever and googled the definition of 'berit' to see if it would tell me anything about the future of this story. It didn't. It did however give me a laugh. I love the fact that SS saw HG whilst she was masked, I am wondering why he could, but it is nice anyway. Draco dissolving into laughter was oddly infectious given that I was only *reading* about it. The timing of your revelation that HG is related to Salazar was pitched perfectly in my opinion. Had you began your story with that fact, I think I would have lost interest immediately. Then again, given the strength of your writing talent, perhaps I wouldn't have. :)

Author's Response: I'm pleased that the length of the chapter—and the chapter itself—pleased you so much. I'm amused and happy that I've got you googling names in fic for answers. :D (Speculation is what brings stories to life, imo.) There *is* a reason that Severus can see Hermione (though I'd actually classify it closer to "sense" than "see"); I'd say there's only one other person who could perhaps have done it. ;) It's nice to hear that you found Draco's laughter infectious. When it comes to Hermione being descended from Salazar, I didn't want to make this an "heir of the founder" fic (at least not in the conventional way). The fact that she is is really rather incidental to who she is and what she's doing, and I didn't want the knowledge to skew the focus of the story. I'm glad you found the revelation well-timed when it came. Thanks, as always, for the review. ^_^

Aha, so that is the plan. How devious. I love that Hermione is related to Voldemort in a way. She has my vote for the next head of Slytherin. I can picture Draco sending naughty messages to Harry during class now while poor Hermione is trying to study. It's interesting that if Hermione and Severus are working on the wards, Hermione might be too tired to actually fight Death Eaters and use her shield with Harry.

Author's Response: That is indeed the plan. I think it's always inferred from canon that Heads of House were always in the house in question when they were at school; it would certainly be interesting to have Hermione as head of Slytherin, wouldn't it? I'm not sure it would be terribly wise of Draco to start that sort of war with Hermione; I bet she could send lots of very *un*inspiring images to keep the two of them under control. ;) More on the battle plan will be upcoming (eventually). Thanks for taking the time to review again. ^_^

Wonderful chapter! or should I say chapterS? It felt like we were getting a bonus! lol I really enjoyed the back story of Solace', and Hermione's family tree. Draco cracking up over it was just great! LOL I kind of wish Severus would have found out about her being a unicorn though... They need a little push about now I think. Perhaps they will have to work closely again on the wards project? Practice, just the two of them? Also thought the name Serenity was a good choice... just wondering if you are a Browncoat? (If you have NO idea what a Browncoat is, well I'll have to tell you about this Brilliant show called Firefly... my other love) Cant wait for the next chapter! Thursday is just too far away!!!!

Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed the uber!chapter and found that it felt like two chapters broken up as it was. It's kind of fun to have Draco completely shed that Malfoy hauteur from time to time; I don't think we get to see him in giggles nearly often enough. :D Severus and Hermione always seem to need a push, poor dears, and they're both being rather ornery right about now (well, for the last several hundred thousand words). ;) I'm definitely not Alliance. ;) Thanks, as always, for the review. ^_^

yay for a long chapter! Glad you got to see the movie. Did a midnight showing here. Snape fangirl batteries now at full charge. And the plot moves forward.

Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter (and trust that you enjoyed it since your fangirl batteries are now at full charge :D ). Must make plot advances from time to time. ;) Thanks, as always, for the review. ^_^
