| I've pondered for days whether to say what I think. Obviously, a lot of people love this story, but I'm afraid I find it (probably fatally) flawed. The premise is original and the descriptions of different magics interesting, but for me the relationships and character development are problematic. What it all boils down to is MarySue-Hermione (because it's her powers that drive the tale) and cad-Snape. That could still be made to work, but I simply don't see how you can pull off a satisfactory ending from here. Your Snape is too obnoxious for a sad end to pull our heartstrings or for a happy end to be believable without him getting a personality transplant. Even if he should finally beg forgiveness and admit love, his jealousy, rancour and grudge-bearing make any prospect of him sustaining a successful relationship vanishingly unlikely. Nor has Hermione shown any signs of being the one-in-ten-million who might be able to handle such a man. Despite him telling her, as plainly as anyone in this story tells anything, that he felt used to be chosen as her status-changer when she finally decided she needed one, she hasn't so far made a single effort to understand why and how he could feel that way about the Hobson's Choice she'd given him. As far as he's concerned, he was her vehicle to safety and increased power, chosen solely for his usefulness to the war effort. In his eyes, she has not given him a gift, but merely made him a more powerful tool. If she can't even figure out this much, how will she possibly know how to appease and console him in a shared future? |

| I love this story, it's so well written and I look forward to it every week, but I have to admit that the lack of Snape/Hermione (happy) interaction is getting to me. I hope something starts happening soon!
