Reviews for The Problem with Purity

Losumi2009.07.15 - 11:18PM34: Thirty-Two: The Meetings (Part Two)Signed
This is completely brilliant. I was so into the interaction between this trio that it almost overshadowed the other brilliant part -- Hermione as Slytherin's blood descendant. That came right out of left field, but you'd paved the way, and rolled right into the wards parts...all of which I wanted to hear more about in the first place. So excellent!

Author's Response: I'm glad that you enjoyed it so much, particularly the interaction and Hermione's heritage. I liked the idea that this one little fact could rock pure-bloods to their core when it doesn't change who Hermione is or what she stands for one iota. I guess I like doing to Hermione many of the things that are normally done to Harry (super!Harry, heir of Slytherin/Gryffindor/Ravenclaw/Hufflepuff, etc.) but trying to make them a little different. Thanks for taking the time to review again. ^_^

As many have mentioned, this story is phenomenal in its vivid detail, characterization and overarching plot. It was definitely a treat to see both Part 1 and 2 of this posting. As much as Severus is blind to Hermione caring about him, she is just as oblivious to his feelings about her. I saw many, many clues in part one subtly demonstrating how much he cares about her. It is sad how they have both gotten to this point where the idea of anything more between them two - that the other might feel the same- is dismissed as wishful thinking. What I miss the most between Severus and Hermione, is the collegial type of friendliness based upon mutual respect and admiration between the two that had both snark and humor on equal part that was thrown to the wayside after The Invitation. For me, at least, I'm just hoping that they get back to that point again, and anything more would just be icing on the cake. Brilliant posting as always. I have a very strong feeling that Severus will help her. After all, inside he knows that there are truly two temptations a man like him can't resist - a challenge and a certain Gryffindor.

Author's Response: I'm delighted that you're enjoying the story so much. I have always firmly maintained that Hermione can be just as stupid as Severus when it comes to the relationship; they both see what they want (or don't want) to see at this point and have got themselves so turned around that I don't think they know which way is up. Neither of them share their feelings, neither of them is willing to take big risks (on the relationship front), and thus we end up with a slew of misunderstandings. It's horribly sad, really—but we're not done yet. ;) I'm glad you're looking forward to what's coming up next (and continuing to be hopeful about the future of their relationship). Thanks for taking the time to review again. ^_^

By merit of your writing alone, you are one of my favorite people in this entire world. Your talent is so intensely enthralling that you are among the top 5 people that I would most miss if they died. Of course, that also tells you that I am rather shallow and selfish. But, nonetheless... Even though I was expecting the end on this chapter, it still came as a surprise. All kinds of gorgeous and light and power. Thank you. ~Mia

Author's Response: *hugs Mia* You are very sweet, and I will make sure to leave instructions to have the rest of Problem with Purity posted in the unfortunate instance of my death before it's completed online. ;) I'm delighted that you're finding so much substance in my writing. Thanks, as always, for the review. ^_^

I can't express how thrilled I am by your excessive wordiness. Yet it still always manages to wrap me up so thoroughly in the joy that is your crafty plottiness, that I am always caught off guard when the last words trickle down. No one else's writing does this to me. It's always an abrupt drop at the last paragraph. I'm off to the rest now. Thank you. ~Mia

Author's Response: LOL Excessive wordiness is probably something that could be used as my epitaph. ;) I'm pleased to hear that it engages you so much (though I'm sorry about the crash at the end). Thanks, as always, for the review. ^_^

What a wonderful evening...just home from seeing HBP and there's a new installment (or two!) on Purity!

Author's Response: That's a happy HP alignment. :D Thanks for taking the time to review again. ^_^

we get a bonus for Draco's birthday but not the release of the movie? You are a wicked woman Silver Birch! I shall just wait until tomorrow. =)

Author's Response: LOL But I assume that you are all viewing the movie so didn't have time for more reading. ;) (Actually, since I was viewing the movie at midnight and then going to work, you're lucky the normal one's coming out as normal. ;) ) But I'm glad you're hopeful and anticipating. ^_^

Hermione's cure sounds fascinating, and I'm glad you took the time to walk us through it. It adds much more to your story that way. I also think it's really cool that you chose Swedish for the language of the spells to become an Animagus (or Animaga ^.^). Detention for the rest of Hermione's career at Hogwarts is a daunting prospect, and yet... I wonder if H is too horrified at the thought to pick up on some of S's subtlety... ^.^

Author's Response: Since we're in Hermione's POV and given the length of the fic, it seemed integral to me that we get details on the things that she's passionate about; I'm glad that you found it effective. And that you liked the Swedish (even if I've stuck with JKR's masculin latin, lol). I think detention for months would be enough to make the die-hard swot in Hermione forget her name, never mind picking up on subtlety. ;) Thanks for taking the time to review again. ^_^

I'm pleased that Ron has shown some maturity here, and repaid Hermione's trust. I also really liked the way that Severus's care of Hermione, when she has over-exerted her magic, so nicely echoes her care of him after word arrived about the Pure Adults no longer being available. I am getting really addicted to this story, which by my reckoning ought to finish up sometime around Christmas. I actually re-read the whole thing when I got this chapter, and it stands up to re-reading very well. The structure becomes clear. Thanks for your posts.

Author's Response: I'm glad that you enjoyed Ron's behaviour and Severus's care of Hermione. When not awake and able to misunderstand one another, it's much easier for the two of them to display their feelings. ;) It's lovely to hear about more people addicted to my story, and I'm also pleased that you find it stands up to re-reading. Thanks for taking the time to review again. ^_^
