| Holy cow, I mean, DAMN I was definitely not expecting the sex in that chapter. And such misunderstanding and pain, yikes, that was sad. Author's Response: It was definitely not how Hermione would have liked it to go in an ideal world--but she recognizes that the world she's living in isn't ever going to be a perfect one. | wow! I was not expecting that! I expected them to be tiptoeing around each other for weeks yet. Poor Hermione. Her vulnerability was very well written in this chapter. In a way, its quite endearing that Snape wanted her safe, even to the point of him being 'used'. I still want her to hit him though. I do wonder what could be the trigger for them to reconcile. I look forward to next week. Author's Response: LOL I'm sure Severus would find it very lowering if he were slapped like Draco was in PoA. Sort of tempting, actually.... *author fades off into silly daydream* I'm glad you found the Hermione's vulnerability effective as well as some endearing qualities to Severus despite everything. | Ah, I wouldn't have expected that. I can kind of see how it came about but it still feels a bit sudden. Emotionally they are definetly not ready to have sex. For someone who was so adamant about loosing her virginity to only the right person, it seems a bit strange that she would just give it up like that. I know it's the right person and she didn't want to put him at risk etc, but she knows the time is not right and she does it anyway. It doesn't seem quite in character for the Hermione you have protrayed so far. Then again, she does seem to be completely blind with regard to how Severus might think about things: talking about the man she loves and can't have in the context of harry being gay; switching off the lights... I just wish they would swallow their pride and get over their insecurities and just talk to each other !!!! She could have had the most amazing experience if she told him how she felt and vice versa... I have a bad feeling that the next chapter will only lead to even more misunderstandings between the two of them, but I shall nevertheless hold out hope :) ... Author's Response: Sudden is a relative term. It's definitely true that you weren't meant to see it coming based on the last few chapters, but the *idea* of needing to lose her virginity has been omnipresent since the first chapter. No, the time is not right in terms of a happy emotional time for them, but given what Severus has just said to her (no matter how much it might be a reaction to what she has mis-said), she thinks it's just been made abundantly plain that this is the only context in which he'd sleep with her. It's not her ideal experience, but she's going to take what she can get especially when it means keeping him safer. Thanks for taking the time to review again. ^_^ | |||

| OMFG! Was not expecting this! You do like to shock and alarm! Can't believe you put the sex before teh reconciliation.
For a supposedly intelligent man, Severus is being remarkably dense about everything and for a supposedly intelligent woman, Hermione is letting her self worth dip remarkably low.
This story does have a happy ending right? RIGHT? Author's Response: LOL Severus has issues (a whole slew of them, actually, but certainly several that pertain to this sort of situation fairly particularly), and Hermione has issues, too (for this is really well beyond the realm of her experience). | Oh, man! I sure do hope we get some Severus POV where he's full of angst because he shouldn't have fucked a student, not even The Last Pure Adult! Aaaaaaughhhh!!!!!!!! Author's Response: *snerk* There will not actually be any Severus POV, not even so we can see him angsting. Although I don't think I've actually said in fic yet, relationships between of-age students and professors is not strictly forbidden (just not encouraged); this goes back to the founding and early marriages at the time, one of those rules that's buried in the Rules & Regs for the school. What Severus is thinking about all of it--although do note he hasn't gone so far as to bring any of that up--will be revealed only as Hermione learns (so I'm sure you can make a fairly accurate guess about when you'll be finding out more ;) ). Sex, a truckload of new angst, yet another secret for Hermione to carry, Severus being a complete and utter...alright words fail me, you've taken his bastardry to a whole new level here, I am in awe. May your undeserving fans grovel at your feet? Author's Response: *giggle* I'm amused by how many Batman exclamations this chapter earned. :D Severus has his reasons (whether they are good or not) for acting the way he has; no one is claiming that he is a well-adjusted individual. | I hate to think we have to wait a week for th next chapter. This one just made me...sad. She wiats this whole time and just..gives it up? No inkling of anything? And he's a bastard? I got no enjoyment out of this smut. It seems like a terrible letdown of a fantastic build up. I'm sure later chapters will help amend this, but as I have none, I am stuck in sad. Author's Response: Writing Hermione at this point, in my head at least, she's an interesting mixture of very brave and very cowardly. She won't confess her true feelings at a point where she really could have up and declared them. But by the time they get through their conversation, she believes that Severus has no interest in her apart from her being a Pure Adult. He is the only person she wants to sleep with, and she thinks nothing is going to make this better. Ceasing to be a Pure Adult will help protect him, will make everyone safer--and will give her what she thinks is the only chance she has with him. She doesn't think there's an ideal she'll ever get, and this is what's left. It *is* sad, and while it isn't the only way this all could have gone, I believe it's a realistic way given the character as I've portrayed them. Thanks, as always, for the review. ^_^ | |||

| Aww, they both screwed up! I'm pleased for Harry and Draco but Hermione and Severus need to patch things up and soon! Great scene. Author's Response: LOL Yes, yes, they did.
