| I was so surprised by this chapter, I really didn't expect *it* to happen so soon, and I couldn't believe Severus! I almost cried...poor Hermione, she should have explained herself at the beginning of the evening; I hope that they come to an understanding soon. Anyway, the sex scene was one of the best that I've read in a really long time and it was difficult getting through it with a room full of people right there! No evil cliffie this time, but the wait for the next chapter is going to be the most painful yet, I just know it. Thank you for updating a little early, it was a real treat! Author's Response: There were definitely failures to communicate on both sides, that's for sure, and given the characters, you can probably guess that abject apologies and confessions of undying love are not exactly the next thing on the agenda. I'm delighted that you enjoyed the sex scene despite all the angst (though I'm now sitting here wondering which roomful of people you were with ;) ). | I know I already commented, but I read this chapter again and there was something I forgot to say earlier.
One of my biggest problems with this fic (read, my only tiny, eeny weeny problem with this fic) was how progressive, mature, stable, and well-adjusted Hermione is in it. This chapter completely surprised me not only with what occurred, but even more so with the way it showed a younger, less secure side of Hermione even before Severus goes off on her. I feel like this chapter really lends the TPWP an emotional maturity that wasn't reached in earlier chapters because of the surrealism of the whole Pure Adult thing. This is where it really grows up for me.
So thanks. You really pulled through. Author's Response: Thanks a lot for taking the time to review again on this chapter; I'm delighted to hear that you found that this chapter lent to your understanding of Hermione rather than taking away from it (as seems to be the case with some of my other reviewers). To my mind, romantic relationships (or attempts at ones) are one of the big areas in which Hermione has no real experience, and so that's supposed to be the spot where her age/immaturity/insecurity shows through more than it does elsewhere. | No!
So... Severus thinks Hermione is in love with Harry, ergo Harry's the one she can't have because he's gay and therefore Severus is being a malicious prick because he's so upset that Hermione couldn't possibly love a hideous man such as himself? Yes! I can see him getting all upset about her turning the lights out because he thinks she wants to imagine Harry in his place.
Gah! If that's the case this plot's more tangled and angst-ridden than I thought it could ever be and I JUST TOTALLY LOVE IT!
And I'll just say that I actually really enjoy the anticipation of having to wait a week to read the next chapter; it draws out my enjoyment of the fic and I prefer the security of regular updates combined with the knowledge that this fic is not going to be abandoned.
Sorry for not reviewing sooner (as I should have for all of your previous chapters) especially as checking out your story is the first thing on my schedule for thursdays. Author's Response: LOL I'm glad you have a definite theory about just why everything occurred as it occurred. I won't comment on the theory itself because I'm forcing my readers to learn what Severus is thinking only when Hermione does so as not to be spoiled. But I'm glad you have a theory and that you love the tangled and angst-ridden plot, lol. Also, I'm pleased as punch that the weekly updates work for you (I think that makes a grand total of two people who've told me so ;) ). Thanks a lot for taking the time to review now. ^_^ | |||

| I had an "Oh... Severus you idiot!" moment, there. I wasn't expecting sunshine and roses, but I wasn't expecting that either. If you can at all manage it, I am sure there are a lot of people who really, really want to know what happens next. Please? :D Author's Response: LOL Yes, I think we all agree that Severus can be an idiot (and Hermione probably wasn't shiningly brilliant either, lol, but they had their reasons). | Wow, that was a surprise. You'd think that Hermione would have noticed the trend before now: fail to explain yourself, and Severus will inevitably take it the worse way possilbe. And Ouch, worst morning after *ever*. I wont ask you to update sooner, but I can't wait for next Thursday! Great work! Author's Response: LOL There does seem to be that trend, doesn't there? | Well, that was depressing. And frustrating! I just want to slap them both silly. Of course Severus figured she'd be using him, and of course Hermione figured he's only in it for the power. Grrr... One of them needs to just spit it out. "Hey, so here's the thing... I'm quite attracted to you. In fact, you might go so far as to say I'm in love with you. Well, now that that's out of the way, care for a spot of tea?" Hahaha, but seriously, I love your story, and I just hope that they figure things out soon. | I am completely stunned. I didn't expect that at all. For them to do the deed that soon. But, Snape - what an idiot. Come on! The man wants and desires her. He pretty much initated the invitation. And to go on about how she used him because she couldn't find anyone else - please. They went over this. And he was the one who reassured her that others would want her. So, he's sunk into his "I"m protecting you by not getting you too close to me hole" and pushing her away. What an idiot. And poor Hermione. If I would have been her, I'd be sick, furious, and gave him as good as he gave her. Could someone persuade you to post sooner? Author's Response: LOL Severus has buttons. They get pushed, and he morphs into an idiot. What can I say? It makes sense in his head; the rest of us realize he's insane. Sadly, almost no one can persuade me to post sooner.
