Ahem...Is it the near future? Why yes, I think it is. I hope that you pit Severus against Hermione, and that their confusion is soon cleared up. I love the feeling when reading a fic when your gut wrenches with from emotions and usually angst, needless to say you do a great job of providing that wrench.

Okay, Hermione is insecure at the beginning of her first real relationship, and she overdoes the aggressive seduction a bit by way of compensation, and when Severus is puzzled and lets a bit of his own insecurities show (One can see him thinking, why is she doing this? Is it really Hermione or someone Polyjuiced? Has she been given a lust potion of some sort?), she doesn't stick around to work out what is really wrong--she just runs away as she always does. And to refuse his mousse, because he hadn't given her any the day before and because she thinks he's refused *her* gift, is unusually petty and mean. It hasn't occurred to her that her own intervention in his life and unexplained abrupt departure might have upset his mousse-making schedule? And it also hasn't occurred to her that he hasn't really been a git to her *at all* since the Castina incident? (She's clearly misinterpreted his concern over her wild risk-taking with Tracey--she's supposed to be so concerned about her mind and she uses an untried Obliviate on herself in an emergency situation?!?) Anyway, while their behavior is somewhat understandable, given both their insecurities, it's getting a bit tiring for readers. Are we now to be subjected to an equal number of chapters of Hermione jumping to the wrong conclusion? I hope not. And the timing is also becoming obvious. Clearly, the Author needs to insure that Severus doesn't know how to make the Weresbane for some future plot twist. I continue to be hooked on your story--don't misunderstand me--it's quite well written and has lots of intriguing and plausible (in context) plot twists, but the constant relationship Angst thing is getting irritating. When other parts of the plot are moving forward, it's just another problem for Hermione, but the story tends to lag when the misunderstandings become the point.

Oh my god, poor Hermione, to be rejected like that at her first attempt of seduction. Already his greeting words had been rather stiff. What’s his problem? Perhaps he’s miffed because he thinks that he’s the last one to be fit in her busy time schedule, coming late in the evening, parting early in the morning. --- On another note, I’m glad that contraception was acknowledged, I already wondered about them not taking any precautions, just assumed that Severus is on a potion. --- Looking forward to the next chap to see how they’re going to resolve this situation.

You're a really talented writer, and you plot well. I really enjoy your story, and so do dozens of other people. We also realize that while Hermione is younger and Severus is older, they are both inexperienced when it comes to normal interactions between the sexes. NEVERTHELESS. Would it please be possible for them to learn they both have to communicate better between themselves? No offense, but it's past "getting", is just IS boring to read the same old miserable non-interactions between them. You've got lots more imagination than you're showing us here. You finally got our favorite couple to have some loving sex together. Why wasn't it possible for Hermione to have simply accepted his "forgiveness" mousse? No--once again, it's like you need to torture them--and us, by extension. I really like your writing, except when you do this. I can tell by the reviews I am hardly the only reader of your work who feels this way. I guess you really like having Sev and Hermione at odds, in fact, preferring it to when they get along.

You write so well, and this story is so beautifully paced and plotted, that I'm sorry to write this: the dynamic between Severus and Hermione has gone from angsty to abusive. I fear you've lost control of your characters, and what I believe you meant to be a flawed but (eventually) loving relationship has become simple bullying and emotional manipulation.

I'm utterly besotted with SS/HG 'ships, and HP fanfic in general is my crack, so I won't be abandoning this story any time soon. But even with this wonderful story's interesting and very well written plot, I'm not sure I'll read to the end. It's not that I'm longing for fluffiness. It's only that I'm finding a story in which an allegedly strong, intelligent and capable woman returns over and over to a sullen, demanding, belittling, downright nasty old man, and puts up with his viciousness without complaint, a little hard to believe. Your descriptions of Hermione's dealings with the werewolves, your detailed accounts of Solace's diaries and Hermione's wards manipulations, the fantastic OC, Castina, ... it's all so good, and so fantastically detailed and inventive. I want to keep reading and reading until Snape shows up, and then all I can think is, "Oh ... him again."

I look forward to your final few chapters, if for no other reason than I'd like to see how you resolve all your plot conflicts. But frankly, at this point, I'd be perfectly happy to read that Hermione looked at Snape, shrugged, said "Sod it," and walked away to live happily ever after in the Forbidden Forest with her herd, turning her back on Hogwarts, Snape and the whole frickin' mess.

Okay! Okay! I get it, the man is not a sex toy, and should not be used like one--seriously Herms, "to get more sex"? Twit. But then to have *that* happen??? Oh, my, gosh. I have never empathized more with Hermione's character than I did in that scene. I was so excited about reading this all day today, then I come home and read this chapter and now I'm in a snit because we're back to square one. Buddy, you're lucky the girl is permanently attached to you, because it isn't your reactionary habits that are getting you gold stars. Sorry, this review wasn't very constructive. Would it help if I said I was chomping at the bit, on the edge of my seat, hanging on tenterhooks, etc, etc, for the next chapter to come out? :) Have a great week!

Severus' behavior is not excusable, even with mousse. He really needs to appologize (once he realizes what he missed out on, the idiot)
