Reviews for The Problem with Purity

man. telling ron bodes no good. i'm starting to feel like there's a lack of resolve or makings toward resolve with severus and hermione. they've been in some sort of a fight or other since he threw her out, it seems, and i feel like there needs to maybe be just the eenseiest baby step towards reconcilleation (spl?). i'm not trying to sounds like a beezy, i just don't think severus is that stupid! come on hermione, let him know how you feel girl!

Author's Response: Hermione's taking a calculated risk telling Ron; she wasn't Harry to be happy, and she's doing her best to achieve that. She isn't stupid, though, and she's a lot more powerful than she was when Marietta Edgecombe ended up with "sneak" on her face; she's not going to let Ron do anything disastrous. Both Hermione and Severus have come to very definite conclusions about how they think the other person feels, and that's making it unlikely that either of them is going to actively seek out a reconciliation. This doesn't mean it won't happen, but the steps are *very* eensy weensy. ;) Thanks for taking the time to review again. ^_^

Yikes! That last part makes me a bit anxious... Although I do have a question. Wouldn't it have been possible for Hermione/Harry to have sex with somebody and have them not knowing they were pure adults? I'm sure the fireworks and the magical surge would've clued them in afterwards, but technically... they could have yeah?

Author's Response: You mean could Hermione theoretically have had sex with Severus back in December without telling him that she was a Pure Adult? Could have done, yes. Thanks for taking the time to review again. ^_^

As always, love the chapter. I think your Hermione is a little too patient/saint-like at times (I know it sounds weird, given that she just blew up at Severus, but the whole thing about "Life could be worse"-- I feel like she could grumble at least a little). But the Hermione-Ron confrontation was out of this world!

Author's Response: I think learning patience is a requirement of falling in love with Severus and trying to interact with him. ;) She might grumble more personally, but knowing how upset Harry is about it, grumbling only increases the likelihood of his going off and doing something unwise, and she doesn't want that to happen. I'm glad you enjoyed the Hermione/Ron confrontation. Thanks for taking the time to review again. ^_^

Oh Ron... I have the feeling that this reaction of his is more important than we think. The scene with Severus and Hermione was perfect. I wanted to go faster to see if something would happen but I couldn't help and read every single word carefully as to not miss anything. I kind of forgot Voldemort was even part of this story. Just shows how well structured everything is because it all holds up. I have a feeling that this will be one of the few I will remember later on and will want to re-read. I can't wait for this to continue. You do know that if this piece were a book I wouldn't be able to put down and would probably spend the whole night reading it. It'd be finished in a weekend! I can't wait for Severus to wake up. Someday, people will be writing fanfiction about your own work. That's how much I love you at the moment haha :)

Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed the scene with Severus even though he was unconscious (which seemed to irk lots of people, lol). Hermione's got lots of problems that don't centre around Voldemort (although they sort of tie in, too), but they are living in war-time, so he keeps poking up around the edges of everything else that goes on. I'm sorry to be denying you the enjoyment of a delirious fic-immersion. (I've read big things that fast and nearly died happy, too. ;) ) But hopefully you will indeed find the fic worthy of re-reading and will enjoy it at the pace you desire then. Fanfic of my fic is a flattering notion. ;) *hugs* Thanks, as always, for the review. ^_^

Just as I expected Ron to react. I'm glad that Hermione helped Severus regardless of their argument. Waiting for the next chapter :D I may have to reread the story again in the meantime.

Author's Response: Hermione certainly had a notion of what to expect with Ron and tried to plan for it. To my mind, she has to have learnt to look past Severus's "crusty" exterior to fall in love with him to begin with; she cares for him and that means helping him when he's hurt even if they're fighting. It's lovely to hear that you think the fic worthy of a re-read. Thanks for taking the time to review again. ^_^

Hooray! Ron knows! He is both incredibly intelligent and exceedingly stupid all at once. But the truth is, most people do have that capacity, his is just accompanied by a terribly volatile temper coupled with a jeuvenile lashback quality. He and Severus seem to be taking their relationship advice from the same source. ~Mia

Author's Response: LOL I think Severus and Ron have more similarities than they will ever be comfortable admitting to. Neither has a lot of relationship experience, they both lash out that the things that are hurting them, and they both can be completely blind to one thing when they see all sorts of other things clearly. Thanks for taking the time to review again. ^_^

Two particularly good scenes there - the one with Ron and the other with the unconscious Severus. I do have a tiny quibble with Snape's outburst in the earlier chapter, because I think it was a bit OOC - not for him to feel as he did, but for him to show it that way. I think he'd have been dead long ago if he didn't have more control than that. But it set up some good dramatic tension, and that led us to the great scene where Hermione heals him. As for Ron, his outburst is certainly in character, and it's going to be interesting to find out whether he's honest enough with himself to realise that he alone is to blame for Hermione's lack of trust. But I'm even more interested in seeing Severus's reactions when he wakes up - now that should make for some fun!

Author's Response: Severus's is such an interesting character. On the one hand, he's a spy who has successfully eluded detection for years. This speaks to a great deal of control of all sorts of emotions and reactions. On the other hand, he goes ape-shit not just on Hermione et al in the Shrieking Shack, but also on Fudge in the infirmary. In my head, I tend to liken the strength of emotions that Severus feels about Sirius to those he feels about Hermione (though they are not, of course, similar in kind); he loses control there—and in front of Fudge, in particular, it was unwise—and I can see him doing the same here (though maybe that's just me). I'm pleased that you enjoyed the Hermione/Severus as well as the Hermione/Ron scenes. Thanks, as always, for the review. ^_^

Poor Hermione. She never can catch a break, can she?

Author's Response: Well, you know, at least as far as Ron goes, she kind of set herself up for this one; she strongly suspected that Ron was going to explode, and she wanted to make sure that it wasn't at Harry if at all possible. Thanks for taking the time to review again. ^_^
