| Reread several chapters again and noticed a few minor details I hadn't noticed previously. 1) Lady Battenberg (who appears in the Some Enchanted Evening chapters) is a strawberry blonde, just like Severus's client Miss Anne. Based on other similar characteristics (e.g. both are fodder for Witch Weekly gossip, both are beautiful), I was wondering, are Lady Battenberg and Miss Anne perhaps one and the same? 2) Although, I'm very glad that Severus and Hermione have finally gotten together sexually, this change in their relationship brings to the forefront one of the delicate issues of Severus's unfortunate, current career -- that of STDs. The contraceptive issue has been clearly dealt with in this fic with Hermione already being on"the potion" to prevent having kids with Ron, and this would presumably protect her from pregnancy with Severus too. However, the only mention to STD prevention I noticed was a potion that Severus gave to Mrs. Nettleton after having sex with her. Even assuming Severus gives this potion to all of his clients (despite it being only mentioned in the one case), giving a potion to the clients after the sex would only presumably protect the client from diseases Severus might have but wouldn't do anything to protect Severus from diseases his clients already had when they came to visit him. Therefore, this raises the question of what SS and H will do to protect Hermione (e.g. will she get the same potion as the clients do?). I realize that this is a nit picky detail, but I was impressed that you've dealt with the issue of safe sex at all -- of all the fics I've read, yours is only the second one that's mentioned STDs in any way shape or form, and many don't even bother dealing with contraception. So since you're fic is very realist in tone in general and has already mentioned the reality of STDs specifically, I thought I would bring this one point up. (Of course, the fact that I have several friends who work in the field of public health and that as a result to me the lack of safe sex in fics is super noticable is also a reason). Oh and on a more general note, I will reiterate what several other reviewers have said :Please update. Pretty please. Your "Get Dobby Laid" chapter was quite funny, but ATDLHEA is so above and beyond. P.S. The above is only about a couple of random details; however, I did write a real review of this chapter earlier (I think it's currently on about page nine of your reviews for this chapter.). Author's Response: Actually, I have NOT forgotten about STDs and Severus way of dealing with them. This will be covered when Hermione meets Severus Sunday. I was certainly not going to skip over STDs when it comes to Hermione and Severus shagging. There will be a little history on venereal diseases in the wizarding world when I cover this. Most probably in chapter 51. Severus takes a potion too, just not in front of the clients. You just beat me to the punch on this matter, but it will be covered. Sharp of you to catch it. | |||
