I have read the story up to chapter forty-five, and I am awestruck, waiting for for the next chapter to be completed. Every encounter between the characters seems so real that you can imagine them actually behaving that way. The predicament is so complex and intertwined that it is brilliant. First, I love the disclaimer; very clever!

Second, nice try with the Kingsley red herring; I'm still stubbornly convinced Lavender is having an affair with Ron.

Finally, I hate to say it, but I think Ron had a point. Gawd knows I've had to suffer through several social encounters where all I could do was smile and nod politely, instead of chatter away about something interesting (like Harry Potter!). Really, would it kill Hermione to try to conform for a few hours? Of course, she's angry, frustrated, and not inclined to compromise with her husband, so I understand WHY she did it. But I also understand where Ron is coming from, too. Frankly, the sooner they split up the happier everyone will be.

Great story, I love how plausible all the characters are. Thanks for the update!

Author's Response: And ten points to the house of your choosing as well. You are the third person to notice (and mention in the review) about Hermione needing to be a little more flexible when it comes to dinner conversation, but she has gotten spoiled with the evenings she has spent with Severus. Besides, she has always had a sort of preconceived notion about what a wizarding dinner party would be like, full of great intellectual giants and scintilating conversation, not just ordinary folks and Quidditch jocks. More on the way, as chapter 45 is in the queue.

Anyway, you are one of the best writers I know, comparable to the likes of Neil Gaimen in some ways, (which from me is a high compliment, indeed.) Oooo, I go to London and you update! Wow, what a chapter! I'd give real money to have Severus see her in that dress; it's even the right color. But (Murphy's Law) Ron would come home and notice it missing, and be infuriated that she was wearing it again. I'm glad that Severus was able to distract Anne, but like him, I don't see how he can manage to continue. I agree with your beta; Hermione has the dress, Ron't thrown her out of hte bedroom, and Severus is alone and lovesick. Nah, she has to wait. Though the suspense -- delicious as it is -- is killing me, Betz! Author's Response: Thanks! Well, Severus may yet see her in that dress....we'll see. ;-) Well, just to ease the suspense, the anniversary dinner is coming up in chapter 47, which I'll start writing either Thursday night or Friday, right after Thanksgiving. Another chapter is in teh queue and another one is with the betas.

I apologize for missing out on a couple chapters, real life has finally caught up with me. I love Ron's reaction to that dress.... it was absolutely what I expected with the character you have created for him, though his eyeballing Hermione just out of the shower seemed a little... I don't know. Are you trying to tell me something? I'll be completely honest, I'm absolutely terrified at the prospect of what you have in store for Severus. Lavender and Draco are right- his obsession with Hermione is completely undermining his personality and instinctive caution- and they aren't out of the woods yet. I hope Lavender isn't right, and he can no longer be trusted to keep her safe. And now that I think about it, I wonder what Ron's reaction to the red dress will be? snort I wonder if he's seriously intending to keep that date with how horrible things are between them. I don't think it would be out of character for him to cancel it- unless he wants it only for the public appearance and publicity? Author's Response: Glad you're back! Ron eyeballing Hermione out of the shower will become a whole lot clearer in chapter 46. Yep, Severus is head-over-heels in love....scary. The red dress is really nice and very elegant. There will be nothing for Ron to complain about regarding the red one. Don't worry, Hermione and Ron will go to their anniversary dinner.
