| I have loved this story when you 1st started writing in back in the day. Over the years I have gone back many time to re read it because it was so well written. I can not even put in to words how excited I was when I saw you were finishing the story, I always wondered what was going to happen to these characters and I am not disappointed whatsoever. | This is an incredibly detailed, well written, and thoroughly researched tale. I'm really impressed by your dedication to it and with all the ways you flesh out the characters, plot, and settings.
I just feel like I have to speak up for Hermione! This witch is getting the seriously shitty end of the stick in EVERY way in this story! Everyone is happy and moved on, including Severus - maybe not romantically (yet), but he seems resigned to never seeing her again and is making his nice new life as a popular Potions master and most eligible bachelor on a tropical island where everyone is wonderful and he is completely free! How nice for him!
Then you have Ginny and Draco who quite literally ride out into the sunset - where they are blissfully and happily married in a glorious tropical paradise with the same wonderful sanctuary islanders Severus enjoys. They have plenty of money, time, peace, and freedom. Yeah, how nice for them too.
And sure, they "miss" Hermione a bit, but they don't really show it or even express regret that she's not there...they treat her as if she's dead and they remember fondly! I may be wrong with how I'm reading your intentions, but it's infuriating to have her just thought of as somebody that they used to know!
And, to add insult to injury, she's the maid of honor at her ex-husband's wedding a few weeks after they're divorced?! She's humiliated and yelled at and then abandoned by Harry as he too (yep) goes off and finds true love, also a couple of weeks after he has his heart allegedly broken by Ginny! So, now Hermione gets to slave away as a Potions apprentice while working for her ex-husband's new wife! Her only decent company is a freaking house elf! When is she supposed to clear Severus and Draco's names by herself when she's being run ragged? Why does she care about clearing their names if no one else does?! And why is she there living such a pathetic life when she can apprentice with Severus in a sanctuary indefinitely? And she'd have her friend with her too! It's ridiculous! And I'm just waiting for Hermione to be brought up on charges for helping Severus and Draco escape...that's practically the only way her life could get any worse! How about a nice stay in Azkaban for your trouble, Miss Granger?
Argh!!!! I'm starting to think you just don't like Hermione at all! If you let Severus get swept up with some other witch or not show any desire on his part that he wishes Hermione was there with him as he makes this lovely place his own, I will be convinced that you don't!
Really, if they're safe in the sanctuary and can leave whenever they want, then it's ridiculous for Hermione to settle for such a gray, pitiful existence!

Author's Response: Oh my, what a review! First off, yes, Hermione is getting the shit end of the stick, but if there is no conflict, if a character wants something and nothing stands in their way of wanting it, that's not good story telling - or at least interesting story telling. It's boring. There is a purpose for some of the shit Hermione is going through in her life. And you THINK Ginny and Draco are treating Hermione as if she were dead. Oh, but wait for the next few chapters to unfold. She is not forgotten and cast off at all. And yes, everyone else seems to have moved on and get their golden moment, but Hermione will get hers, but you have to be patient. In chapter 82 you will learn why Hermione can't exactly run off to be with Severus. It ties into the Wizarding view of marriage. And yes, Hermione is running herself ragged, but Hermione in canon has done this to herself before - remember PoA and the Time Turner? And Severus does wish Hermione is there. Oh, he misses her deeply, but remember, he is a stoic sort of person, except when pushed to extremes (just wait for Chapter 90!). I do like Hermione, but Hermione did promise to try and clear Severus and Draco's name, and that is a HUGE part behind why she is staying behind, even though she is busy with her apprenticeship. As for being safe in sanctuary, Severus, Draco and Ginny are only safe if they STAY ON THE ISLAND - if they leave THEY ARE NO LONGER PROTECTED. If Severus pops on over to Honolulu to go shopping and an Auror knows he's wanted back in England and captures him? He's fucked. He has to STAY within the three miles of the shore of Malu Palekaiko to remain within sanctuary. Severus can't leave the island without being at risk of being caught and dragged back to England, which is why he has to stay there. It's not like he touches base and said "FREE!" He has to stay on the island PHYSICALLY to remain in sanctuary. It will be a long and winding road, but I do promise that Hermione and Severus WILL get back together, that I can tell you. You just have to be patient. And Hermione is not entirely without friends. Her Potions master becomes a very good friend and mentor. Just be patient. | |||

| Great chapter! I especially loved that Severus finally showed that he missed Hermione in some significant way. I'm eagerly awaiting some forward movement in their story! Well done on the chapter! | Last night I was catching up to the last 4 chapters and when I thought I was done the 'next' button was there. Didn't realize until this morning you updated right when I was reading. Interesting to see where you are taking this and how long it takes to find evidence and albus will and etc etc, especially the thing about moody did harry ask yet? i'm so excited!!! Author's Response: Oh, it will take a while.before "evidence" is found. As for Harry asking Moody... even Harry is not that stupid to just run off and do something like that alone. Harry will bide his time, just like he did regarding Hermione. | |||
