THe counselling session was great...the psychologist's comment to Hermione about the male friend was very perceptive. Please give us more soon!!!!!!! Author's Response: More is definitely on the way, next chapter is in the middle of the beta-mill. James was very perceptive to notice Hermione's gender reference, and has counciled enough couples to know the common pitfalls. | |||

| Another great chapter. Most visceral scene for me: the elevator. Even if most of us don’t have a Draco to act as sarcastic but spot-on foil, I’d guess we’ve all been frozen solid at least once in our lifetime while contemplating a sudden realization about love or loss or hope or stupidity or everything at once .... Anyway, I loved that whole episode and what led up to it. I _was_ curious about Draco’s reaction to Severus’s final action: did D walk away or did he stand there, shaking his head, figuring out how besotted S really is. Poor Severus has it bad – intensely bad, which can only lead to good things in later chapters. I thought the counseling section was well done, without being overly realistic: in other words, Hermione’s punching Ron was very satisfying even though in the real world it would been completely inappropriate and a total fuck-up on H’s part . I only know about counseling from (1) having been in it for a year when my husband and I needed help getting through a stressful time and (2) from when my parents led group therapy sessions in the 70’s: my analysis of the story is (a) that the companionable improvement in Harry and Ginny’s relationship due to counseling is very realistic without having to know how deep the improvement goes, and (b) that Ron and Hermione’s experience with James is both realistic and hilariously farcical. Fortunately, while I’m reading the story, I believe completely in Betz as god of her universe and react the way an attentive reader should. I enjoyed this chapter thoroughly. P.S. I also haunt adultfan.nexcess.net for your updates but review here; it's no matter, but it's too bad Ashwinder is so slow to validate. Nonetheless, thanks to the validators as well as the wonderful betas! Author's Response: I saved your review for last. Yours and lemonade's are usually my favs to reply to as your reviews tend to hit on a lot of unspoken context I try to imply in my fic. I think you'll see with the openeing of the next chapter why Severus froze in the elevator. Draco jsut exited the elevator and went to his own office while Severus took an extra little trip on the lift letting Draco's words sink in. Draco knows Severus feels something for Hermione, but he does not know how deep those feelings go. It could be infatuation, lust, or a mild obession. He's not quite sure. Chapter 44 (which I'm working on right now) addresses more of Draco and Severus interacting. Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the counseling session. It was hard to write as I wanted to address some issues and expose just how terribly flawed Hermione and Ron's relationship is. I wanted a bit of realism in there and thankfully had a few people to counsel me on some things I originally wrote regarding some things James, the counselor, said and did. They gave me good advice and corrected me on some very big issues a counselor would not do. It was their help that gave this chapter some realism. But I did want to show Hermione laying into Ron just once, as I only did a quick recount of Hermione hexing Ron from the previous week. I think a lot of people (including myself) just wanted to see Hermione deck him. Most of all, I wanted to show how this marriage is just quickly deteriorating, like the session itself. I am glad you like how Harry and Ginny's relationship has improved. It is meant to show that even though their marriage is not perfect, they have come to an understanding where their friendship with one another has become stronger through counseling. It's not meant to imply that Ginny could love Harry now in a way that she couldn't before, but that the clearing of the air between them has allowed them a new level of comfort. | |||

| Wonderful, Betz! You know, I feel like things are coming to a climax (figuratively and literally) in this fic. The "status quo" is getting harder and harder to maintain. Gah! I love that Hermione decked Ron! The berk deserved it! ~RAWR~ lol Anyway, magnificent as always. I can't wait for Severus and Hermione to finally confront each other. It will definitely be interesting. I'm also interested to see Ron and Hermione really go at. I mean, I know they've had some knock-down drag outs, but they (or at least Hermione) are still holding back so much animosity. It's going to be explosive when it just won't stay in. Looking forward to the next chapter already! :) Author's Response: Ah, what you are sensing is Act I coming to a close. Act I, you say? YES! THis is a three act story. Build-up of story and establishing characters in in Act I, action and build up to climax in Act II, and Climax and denoument in Act III. Think of HBP in three acts: act 1 is everything leading up to Harry getting the Horcrux, act 2 is Harry and Albus viewing the Horcrux/Slughorn Pensieve and going to the cave, and act 3 is from when Severus AK'ed Albus and on (Snape fleeing, the Infirmary & funeral scenes). And we'll have to see if there is a Round Two Ultimate Smackdown between Danger Granger and the Red Radgie Gadgie. At least the next chapter is with my betas right now. | |||
