| I have been reading your story for a while and I wasn't going to leave a review till the end. But after that last chapter I just had to let you know that this story, out of all my favorites (as many of them as I have) is one of my all time favorites. This fic is great, it has a bit of everything. And the drunken Hermione is hilarious "I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts!" Well shit happens when you drink Absinthe or when you're in the arms of the green fairy as some say. I will be impatiently waiting for your next update, as good as the story has been so far I'm sure that no one will be disappointed.

| Hi, Beth, I´m very impressed with your new chap. I couldn´t imagine Hermione not to tell Seveurs that she knows his true identity, because I didn´t think her to be able to act as “normal as usual” around him. But I neither expected your subtle handling of the situation – she knows that he knows that she knows – and that they would go on with pretending, fuss giving her some more time to accommodate; a quite clever move from you. Everything else would not have been really believable after her great difficulties to bring the two pictures Calleo-Snape together. Deeply touching, her ultimate break-down, as well as his reaction, to offer help in such an unoppressive way. What I found very interesting were all the insides about Severus thoughts of his own, his uncertainty and doubts concerning his personality. And after this wonderful chap you let us sit there on the edge again (many thanks to you – I like this position) – what will happen with Ron next? Will she spill some of her secret thoughts to him? Thunderous clouds and lightning on horizon … Author's Response: Glad you enjoyed this chapter so much. Thanks, I didn't plan that to be clever, just that Hermione wants this little bit of sanctuary to continue. Hermione does need more time to get used to the idea that Snape is a human being, what more, just a man. We have to find someway for Hermione to finally accept Snape, so this was the only way I could think I could bring her around. Thanks to okon (cocochristy) for the idea of sitting there and opening his arms, waiting for her to come to him. She helped witht that bit - bless her! Yes, Severus is admitting he has feelings for her, but the way they manifest themselves with his actions and words is still confusing to him. He's never been *in* love before, remember. | I loved this chapter. They are each so vulnerable at this stage, and you've captured that perfectly. I'm curious to see how Ron is going to deal with Hermione following her drunken incident. I'm guessing he's not going to be supportive and may even lash out at her for embarrassing him. And...did we know Ron was taking dance lessons? I'll have to go back and look. Author's Response: Yes, they are very vulnerable right now. This was a hard chapter to write, keeping things in the right balance of nervousness, anticipation and tension, of knowing and pretending not to know. How will Ron deal with Hemrione's drinking? We'll see! Yes, it was mentioned a while back that he was taking lessons from Rogina during his nights at the bar, but since he's no longer working there, he has to schedule a few lessons. | |||

| Oh boy! Listening to 'Where or When' did add something, (I happen to already love that song). And so it begins. I highly enjoyed the parts of 'He knows' 'She knows I know she knows.' :) I'm lost for more to say, except that I cannot wait to see how things progress! Lovely as always! Author's Response: Yeah...that song really does capture teh melancholy state of things...of love lost and almost found. I must confess, the whole "he knows," "she knows I know" and all was inspired a scene from "A Lion in Winter." Things will progress all right, a little faster too. | "Wow” in my opinion also. Great chapter. The slow burn of new realizations and adjustments, the little risks taken and painful progress gained, one delightfully agonizing step at a time. Almost everything I hoped for. Nervous Hermione was _very_ well done; I especially liked the instinctual flinch and the almost kiss and their reactions to both. Snape was excellent; of all the excellent bits, my two favorites were of him sitting on the bathroom floor opening his arms for Hermione and of him standing behind her at the mantel, revealing the evoluton of his feelings, placing his hands so close but not quite touching. On cue, I ache for their distress, but I'm also fanning myself, and I don’t feel a bit sappy.
Of course we/they have to wait longer for happiness realized. But here's my first "almost”: you're such a good writer that you _could_ have had them share the briefest of kisses, and we'd have believed it, hook, line, and sinker, no matter your hand waving about logical writing. I think you're enjoying having the power to torment us as much as writing solid fiction, you sadistic author you…... Opps … as a fervent fan of logical writing, I take that back, but I won’t deny that I didn’t think it. Despite the goodness of the tearful hug and the hand kiss.
Three questions and one pleas: (1) I'd always thought Ron was having an affair with someone, someone other than Lavender (I see your Lavender as too ambitious and earnest in her own devious way for the likes of your Ron), and Rogina immediately came to mind when he mentioned dance lessons; so am I wrong, based on Ron's floo question? At least Snape's spot-on characterization of Ron’s emotional abuse provides an irrefutable reason to hate him no matter how realistically complex the marriage is portrayed (thinking that in life and good fiction, it's OK if Hermione is sometimes a bitch; it doesn’t excuse Ron’s derisive comments). (2) My second “almost:” of all the plot points that make me nervous as a reader, Hermione’s drunken “coconuts” far exceed my fear of a paranoid Moody. Please don’t humiliate her too publicly …. You're not, are you? (3) I assume that Snape is testing potions “solo” because (a) he’s in a hurry to get it to market and (b) he’s not much interested in sex with anyone but Hermione. But he’s no love-addled Draco; is he going put off all his other clients? He could go blind! (4) Your Snape is definitely divine, but is he as good looking in your mind as some of the illustrators portray him? Or will that be irrelevant to Hermione’s reaction, knowing how many women ignore physical faults when in the throes of love or lust?
Thanks again to you and your betas. We can relax a little, still anxious for the next chapters, but satisfied at how they got through what could in the real world have been a disaster. Yes, Hermione is adjusting to the new realization that the universe will not implode nor the earth spin backwards and everyone fly off the face of the earth if she becomes attracted to Snape. Thanks, I'm glad you liked how I wrote a nervous Hermione. This was a hard chapter to write - the hardest so far due to all the fine line walking going on between both characters. Yes, a lot of almosts going on. She almost rejects him and almost accepts him. Snape almost looses him tempter and almost professes his love for her. They could have kissed, but their first kiss will be...damn! You almost made me give some of it away. Can't have that! Ron is...Ron is Ron. I won't humiliate Hermione too much. Just a bit of letting things all hang out for a bit (pun intended). You are correct on Snape and the potion. I won't say which points, but you are correct on at least one. What do I ahve in mind when I see Snape in my head? A bit of canon, a bit of fanon and a whole lot of a younger, thinner Alan Rickman. Hmmm, will Hermione find him attracted through her lust addled mind? Stay tuned for the unmasking! | |||

| You are amazing! Another wonderfully long chapter and usually promptly updated, too. You fill the story out so well, it makes the reader feel as if we are right there with the characters and not left wondering what's going on. Laughed myself silly over the elephant and all the he knew, she knews. Author's Response: (Blushes) Well, I think my husband would agree with you...oh! You meant my writing. Oh... Thanks!
