| Don't quite understand why the assholes in the magical NYPD would have done that to Jerry, but he'll be a good person for Severus to have around. He's a resourceful and creative wizard, and I look forward to seeing how he fits in to the newly forming company. I'm impressed by your meteorological homework on Chicago. But here's the thing: a first snowfall, especially one that early, is a light thing that usually melts on contact with the ground, or if it does stay, it doesn't stick, and is gone by morning. "Chicago had its first major snowstorm of the season already. It was a little early for so much snowfall," just doesn't sound like Chicagol. 'First snowfall' is not the same as 'first major snowstorm', which makes it sound like January, that's all I'm saying. Author's Response: It was the department that trains Aurors who did that, which is under the control of the federal level Department of Magical Law Enforcement, and magical creatures fall under that department as well. If anything, I think they wanted to see if they could have a source for dragon parts where they don't have to go through bureaucratic hoops of protected species, like the magical equivalent of Fish & Game. And an Animagus of a magical creature? A rarity enough that they didn't want to treat him like a human and just satisfy morbid conjecture and wild hypothesis about bits of a magical creature Animagus, since Animagus are rare, but magical creature Animagus is extremely rare, like once in a century, if that. | |||

| Another excellent chapter! You really plot and pace these nicely. Should Severus decide to offer Pat Vallier the job, I would be willing to do your Chicago-picking (as opposed to 'Brit-picking') for you, as I'm a lifelong Chicagoan, and probably like Pat Vallier's older sister. While we do indeed get some major snowfalls, they never come in October. Once in a VERY odd while there might be a flurry around Hallowe'en, but that's a light, barely-there kind of thing, a first snowfall--and those aren't usually until a month later. We don't get the major ones till January or February. We're only as far north as New York, say--not the Arctic Circle! And while we do have some hot and humid summer days, we're not by a river, but Lake Michigan, one of the Great Lakes, which often features a cooling breeze right off its surface. So while we do have cold winters and hot summers, they're not quite the way you've described 'em. Other than that--a perfect chapter! ;-) Author's Response: My parents were from Buffalo, so I'm familiar with midwest and east coast winters - especially lake effect snow, based on their descriptions. I just wanted a freak flurry early in the season to show why Pat wanted to get the hell out of Chicago. | |||

| Very good. Seems like everything's working out for everyone. Let's get those two crazy kids together somewhere for crying out loud, even just for a day or two. It's time for Severus to go back already. I get his "don't want to go back to the cell" feeling, but he's free to roam, get over it and show up for the woman!

| I must have checked a hundred times over the last 2 days for an update and low and behold, not one but two! It was like Christmas came early. Nice calm chapters with some nice warmth to them. Poor Jerry. How can you not hurt for him. Poor guy is having such a tough time. So thankful that Severus' business is going to be running like a well oiled machine soon. Interesting news about the school.I wonder if there is any foreshadowing there. So much to ponder. I can't wait to get our favorite couple in the same place at the same time for even a long weekend. Please keep feeding your muse (and your betas!). Thanks ever so much for sharing your amazing talents with us!
Author's Response: Well, this chapter was so large, I had to split it into two due to the 10,000 word (or so) limit on chapters. Yeah, Jerry had it rough, and then Arnold goes off and says that shit. more concerned over testing his dragon bits than the torture he went through because of his Animagus form. | |||

| Alas, as soon as you introduced the new pox disease I figured one of our favorite couple would acquire it. You evil tease of an author.
