This is without a doubt one of the best fanfictions I've ever read. I've been reading HGSS fanfiction for a few years now and none made me laugh, cry and feel like my heart would burst like this one. Congratulations on an incredible piece of work.

Author's Response: Thank you so much. I am truly humbled and thrilled by your comment. This story came to mean so very much to me, and knowing it was enjoyed by others means the world.

I see I was right to worry at Ginevra's actions. Her inability to let got of her bitterness and need for revenge seems to have ultimately cost her Harry. Poor Hermione... At least, Severus managed to rescue her eventually. And the trial was quite interesting. I enjoyed picturing Severus and Hermione in Mongolia. Too bad they had to go back to Britain eventually, but I loved the loyalty Hogwarts showed towards Severus. I do wonder about the other characters, what happened to them. How is Remus fairing with Teddy? How are the Weasleys going? What's Harry doing? Has Ginny ever made some progress towards understanding? What about Luna and Neville?

Author's Response: Thank you so much! Stephen King said one of the most rewarding things about writing fiction comes when people do wonder what the characters are doing beyond the end of the story, and I have to agree. To be honest, I haven't really thought of those things; perhaps that's the fun of reading it - you can imagine where life has taken these characters.

As I was saying in my review for the previous chapter, I read the two chapters pertaining to the battle in one go, so I'll leave comments for both here. It was gory, and gruesome, and crude, but oh so totally appropriate how it portrayed a true battle. No epic glory, only grimness and fear and death and resolve. I especially enjoyed the part beginning with Minerva's death by Nagini, and ending with Bellatrix's demise by Hermione. The depiction of how Riddle was brought into death was also pretty fascinating. But I can't help but feel apprehensive at Ginevra's Weasley's actions.

Author's Response: Thank you so much. I was honestly terrified to write the battle scene - so much so that it took me almost a year to get up the courage to write it! In the end, I knew it had to be dirty and messy and having more to do with guts than with glory. I really appreciate your wonderful comments.

I was very glad to see that this story is now complete! As there's no alert here, and as I don't check this site as often as fanfiction, I didn't know there were more chapters posted. That was a delightful surprise, and thanks to the HP FANFIC FAN POLL AWARDS 2013 for letting me know through this story well-deserved nomination that it was now completed. Anyway, that battle chapter was epic, and very well-written. I couldn't stop and had to go read the next chapter immediately afterwards.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I'm very glad you found it again. That's my only gripe with Ashwinder, as much as I feel it's my archive home along with TPP - it doesn't provide alerts.

Wow! That is so weird! The very first paragraph makes mention of Halloween... and I'm reading this on Halloween! Synchronicity, baby! It's nice to know that Severus had a true friend at one time, even though said friend was responsible for getting him into the DeathEaters.

Author's Response: I love it when that happens! I also love Reg Black. I have a Severus/Hermione/Reg story in the works, if I can find the time to finish it.

Wow! A big part of me is glad that Hermione stepped in to perform the deed. I think that, emotionally, she is the stronger of the two and can handle the repercussions better. I AM, however, concerned for where this leaves the state of her soul. As I recall from the conversation Severus and Dumbledore had originally about the plan to murder him, Albus didn't want Draco to do it because it would taint his soul, whereupon Severus cried out "And what about MY soul?" Is this why she can't feel anything? Or why they seem to have lost their link? Or is she in shock? These are just rhetorical questions; I don't expect you to answer them. I will, in any case, read the answers for myself soon enough....

Author's Response: That moment in The Prince's Tale, when Severus cries, "And what about MY soul?" Is one of the most heart breaking moments for me. Always has been. I wanted him to have another chance. Of course, whoever did the deed will have to answer for it, but Hermione knew that as well...

Wow! A very powerful chapter, with a very powerful ending! Deciding he would kill himself if she were to die is merely a selfish indulgence; but deciding that he would kill HER before letting her be tortured by DeathEaters... oddly enough, that shows great love to me. In a case like that, holding back his hand would be selfish and cowardly. Killing one's enemies is easy. Killing the one that one loves so that they will not suffer a worse fate is true compassion. Though I'm pretty sure that it's all hypothetical, because that doesn't sound like a "Teddy" ending to me!

Author's Response: Thank you so much, Mimi! I felt the same way about his decision. I know he wouldn't allow her to suffer, but in their circumstances, I think knowing my lover had decided to do that should the worst happen would be a great comfort to me. I am not afraid of death; I am however terribly afraid of suffering. If there was no way out, and I knew death was a foregone conclusion, I would be able to rest easier knowing he had my back. As to what happens, I'll let you get back to it. I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise! ;)
