I'm so glad that Hermione and Severus had that talk. I think both of them will feel more secure for that show of trust, though I wish Hermione could get over her feelings about Lily. If she feels she's competing against this perfect woman, it's bound to cause friction down the line.
As for Dumbledore, I guess given the fact that the allegation is made against a staff member it shouldn't be dismissed summarily, but it's so damned obvious that Sirius is just trying to cover his own arse and get a dig in against Severus at the same time that in any other situation he should have chucked Harry straight out on his ear. He just better not make it sound as if Severus needs to prove his innocence when he was so damned crass when he heard about Sirius, or I will (want to) hex his worthless hide. I do intend for Hermione to lose that 'competition' feeling very soon. She will not have any choice after the next few chapters. Hermione decided to grow up in this chapter, and her insecurity was the last vestiges of the child she chose to leave behind. She now knows she has bigger fish to fry other than her own ego! | |||

| another delicious chapter on the books. I love your harry - he's so easy to hate. I guess this also means that your Sev is really great since all of my loyalties belong to him. | Holy shite! I wonder exactly how much Hermione overheard? I know she must have heard Severus' very poorly time "Hermione-flavoured cherry popping" comment, but I wonder if she got there in time to hear Sirius saying that she would spread her legs for anyone and "I’ll get her. I always do. I had Lily, and I’ll have her." That will make her mad as a hornet.
Poor Severus. Just like "little boys" the world over, when it comes to their egos and their biggest rivals, they tend to run-off at the mouth at the slightest provocation. Not that what Sirius said was only a slight provocation, but I think Severus let his mouth get away from him.
Now what will happen next? This was a very evil cliffie to leave us with, and I trust you will be posting the next chapter in time to keep me from going into withdrawals. Thanks of another great chapter, Teddy!

| I was so proud of Hermione for giving Dumbledore a piece of her mind for the insinuations he had made! Never mind that there was some truth in what he had said.
I think she should not go to Hogsmeade with Harry and Ron, but I imagine she will, nonetheless. What will happen when Sirius arrives? Will Harry see behind his godfather's mask of caring, or will Harry be oblivious to his behavior toward Hermione?
And now she is alone with Severus in his room in the Infirmary... how long will Madam Pomfrey be away? Will Severus regain consciousness while Hermione watches over him? Will Poppy return at a bad time? Will the Headmaster arrive and see Miss Granger watching over the Potions master?
Lord this is a great story! There are so many twists and turns.

| This is just so fascinating and wonderful - a great twist on Snape & Hermione, and most especially Sirius. He really does creep me out and meanwhile the bond between Hermione and Severus, both magical (the ramifications of that oath will be fascinating!) and emotional and ?physical just keep deepening. Snape put his foot in it this time, but the look of loathing goes to Sirius - can't wait to see what Hermione has to say about the Hermione-flavored cherry comment!
