Reviews for Lay Me Low

Why do you insist on making me cry? I've read all you've posted on here and can't bloody wait to read the next chapter!!!!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! It has been a very emtional last few chapters, hasn't it? These have been very hard to write, but thankfully my readers have understood what I was trying to do, and have supported it all. Thank you for your kind comments!

You don't leave much time to ponder over the ominous ending of the prologue as to what Severus did involving Hermione. I can't help but wonder how all that is going to play out and her reaction. My first impression of Hermione in the prologue was kind of underwhelming, but then she shows vast improvement here. I love her retort and how she stays level headed during the whole healing process. It's super sweet after that gut wrenching first half. Leaving her all tucked in with the quilt made me smile.

Author's Response: Thank you. It's funny; Hermione has been the one that people have been so adamant about in this story. She's had a definite voice, and sometimes sounds older than her years, but I hope she still sounds real.

I wanted to reread all of your story and actually review each chapter this time around. I tend to write books or nothing, so we'll see how it goes. And thank you so much for the offer of recommendations in your review reply. I would love them. Love, love, love them actually. Now onto the actual review. I think what hooked me the first time around was your description of Severus. You flesh out his character in a way that intrigued me. I wanted to know what could make such a miserable sounding bastard happy. Plus, he's such a complex character that it must be fun and challenging for writers to play around with him. And the results are mostly fun to read. Now, my guilty pleasure aspect is the demented love (or really lust) triangle you got going on at the start here. I don't want Hermione to get 10 feet near Sirius, but it's like watching a train wreck. You can't resist.

Author's Response: Thank you so much - I am so humbled that you enjoy the story and that you've started it again. That is one of the most lovely things a writer can hear, is that their work is worthy of a re-read. It's amazing that I started this prologue and first chapter without a clue as to where it would go and how long it would take. A year and a half later, I'm almost home, but it's been a journey of discovery for me. I often say that Lay Me Low taught me how to write.

At this point I am merely reviewing so you know I read the chapter. There are no words, my friend, no words at all.

Author's Response: Thank you, Shell. What a ride this has been.

Now THIS is the kind of scene Rowling herself should have written, not the Severus-hating crap she did. Excellent, moving chapter, Teddy! Thank you so much for having written it.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! That really means a lot to me. I'm so glad you feel this way.

Oh my Teddy, you've managed to make me cry once again. Those last few words mean the world to me. I lost my uncle a few years ago because he upheld a similar promise and fought for a friend. He paid with his life. It's still something I believe in, however, because I would hope the people I love would do the same for me. I loved this chapter so much. I hope your Exhange goes marvelously and you can hurry back to us here! Best of wishes to you and your family and friends :) (lol I feel like I was just overly sentimental but I'm speaking from the heart. You bring that out of me, Teddy dear :). )

Author's Response: Oh, babe, I am so sorry for your loss. It is one thing to write about sacrifice, but to have lived it... I can't imagine how that feels. I hope that all of us have that one person they know they can rely on. Mine is also on the other side of the veil, my precious Muse Dahlra, but he's as close to me as anyone on this earth. I wish all the best to you and your family, and I thank you so much for always being so supportive and encouraging.

Author's Response: Indeed. I suppose he really thought he was doing it all for the right reasons.
