Incredible! It's overwhelmingly sad to think that Hermione let all of her other heartaches and guilt build up inside of her even before she cast the killing curse. It was almost like killing Dumbledore was the cherry on top. Everything else was just leading up to this numbness that she was feeling. It all transpired against her. But that makes me think, too, that Severus was dealing with a broken Hermione the whole time he's known her. Yes, dealing with Sirius dented her up badly, but Severus really hasn't known a whole Hermione yet. It will be interesting to read how she'll change and his perceptions of how she is after this healing. Thanks for another lovely chapter!!

Author's Response: Yes, my beta pointed that out as well - it was something that came out of our discussions of this chapter, which went under a MAJOR re-write. I had totally botched up the entire thing, and being the phenom beta she is, she wasn't afraid to tell me I'd gone off the rails on it! This was a very difficult chapter to write, and I hope it does everything I wanted it to do. Thank you, sweetie, for such a thoughtful and encouraging review.

Loved This. Keep up the great work. Poor Hermione. Can't wait for the next Chapter.

Author's Response: Thank you so much - the next chapter went up today!

woot! Cannot praise this enough. And I love the Blake quote and Severus' two fingered salute.

Author's Response: Jerusalem, IMHO, should be the National Anthem of England. I think it is breathtaking, and being where he was from, I knew Severus would know the poem - I sort of think Blake was a wizard anyhow.

Aghhhh, no!!!! This is killing me, I have to know what happens! This is my plea for a speedy update because I can't bear the suspense. I know this is hardly a proper review, but I'm just so eager to know what happens next it's hard to focus on anything else. Though if I could comment on one thing, it would be that your prose has gotten so sophisticated and it really showed in this chapter. Just beautiful.

Author's Response: Thank you so much. I really try to learn and grow with everything I write, and I am convinced that this fic has taught me alot! I actually have the next chapter in the queue, so it should be up shortly. Thank you so much for your amazing feedback!

Oh no! As long as Hermione and Severus were together we'd know everything would work out okay, but then you throw in this numbness and separation... *tears* And just when I think your Dumbledore can't get any slimier. Not every deed is forgivable or even justifiable by the realities of war, and Dumbledore’s cold and cruel manipulation of Severus and Hermione is seriously beyond the pale. I loved the whole escape from Hogwarts scene (I laughed when Snape called Harry a little shit), especially the part where Harry realizes Hermione is Snape’s wife and Snape calls Harry James. The raw emotions on display are so powerfully written. Harry’s reaction is expected and even understandable. Hermione needed to bring Harry to the realization that Severus is on their side much earlier on; there was no chance Harry could accept any reason here with such potent rage and grief flowing through his veins. I do still somehow hope Hermione and Harry will be able to reconcile, but he has a lot to atone for, not just his insults here but for his past shithead behavior over the Black situation.

Author's Response: Thank you so much, Kelly. This was a particularly hard chapter to write as is the one that follows, but I am so grateful that readers like yourself are enjoying this story so much. I hope to wrap this up in the next month or so (do you realise I've been working on it almost all year?), and I can move on - this epic has just about done me in - thank goodness my beta stgulik is such a genius - I would have never made it this far without her.
