Author's Notes christev 2012.09.04 - 09:15PM 22: Twenty One: Heaven From One Signed Brilliant retelling of the bathroom scene! In truth, I really wanted Harry to swing in the breeze a bit. That was probably the most egregious injustice in canon, in my opinion, when he basically had no punishment for almost killing Draco. (srsly, detention??) I love how Hermione used this to fake losing the (fake) baby, and even though I wanted Harry to suffer more, love the forgiveness scene between the two of them. <3 <3 <3 Author's Response: Thank you! I tell you, when I wrote the first chapter of this story, I never envisioned I would be writing a parallel canon story. It has been so challenging, but this scene was one that DahlraMuse burned into my brain long before I committed it to my pc. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yes, Harry spent too much time in that book macking on Draco, and this was a hideous thing. Also, how hard must that have been for Hermione to write that about her parents, after their deaths. *sniffs :-( Severus' vows to himself are hard, but make a lot of sense. The way you've written her grief / love / longing for her parents is quite beautiful. And then closing scene of this chapter, I just love the way Severus phrases why he loved Lily compared to why he now loves Hermione. So gorgeous! Author's Response: Thank you so much. Does he realize that her whole world - save Severus - was also destroyed? It does seem like a wedge has been put between them, but if anything, it was put there by Dumbledore, with all his coddling of Harry to the detriment of everyone else. Voldemort doesn't realize he has an ally in the Headmaster! Author's Response: I really think that Dumbledore was ready to sacrifice anything and anyone, including Harry, but he was so fixated on the prophecy that Harry was the only one who could kill Voldemort he didn't see the potential for even greater loss. For such a great wizard, he was blinkered when it came to Harry, i think.
