| I love how you touched on the important events during Hermione's years. How strongly they had affected her, the way she saw herself, the way she behaved, everything. And I love how you showed the change when her innocence was gone. And how Severus realized that he was a part of it all. How he went in to help Hermione, but was able to seek out forgiveness for the things he felt were wrong of him. I literally had goosebumps reading the part when Hermione was changing and making statements about herself. It was so powerful to read. To her sleeping form, he whispered, “I’m sorry you were forced to do what I could not. I was so angry with myself,” he said, hating to say the words but knowing he must. “I was ready to do it, but in the end – “
“There is nothing to forgive that hasn’t been forgiven,” she whispered in return, and her voice sounded sure and serene, even half asleep as she was. Oh, how I love this!! Author's Response: Thank you, sweetie! Whew, this was such a difficult chapter to write - I had the right idea, but was so going about it the wrong way. Thank goodness for a strong beta who has the courage to say 'you need to rethink this'. I just shudder to think what would have happened if I kept the original text to this! I ended up very happy with the chapter, but it was very tough. I'm so thrilled that you found it to be exactly what I hoped it would be. | You've done it again...another chapter where I'm feeling their pain, desperation and love. Having Severus comfort Hermione in her mind while witnessing Burbage's death was ingenious. The dream sequence was beautiful and rich in imagery. You are truly a gifted storyteller to be able to weave your own story within JKR's seamlessly. Thank you for another wonderful update. | Wow.
I mean, there's nothing more I can really say at the moment. You keep on tugging me this way and that with this story, hinting at happy endings but still having so much foreshadowing of doom!
I do want to say that this chapter was just beautiful, I'm sure I have said it before, but I love your writing style and it suits this fic beautifully. I am now wishing the month of November away so I can see this updated! Author's Response: Thank you so much - I am still thinking about LML even when I'm not writing it, so hopefully once NaNo's out of the way, I'll dive back in. I have about 4 other fics in the wings as well, so they'll be available for the coming year while I beaver away at Lay Me Low - we're not too far from the end! | I can see how easy it would for Severus and Regulus to become fast friends, and I felt so bad for Severus when he realized what had happened to his friend– and that it had been the Dark Lord's use of his potion that had set it all in motion. One more reason for him to hate Voldemort and work to bring him down.
I think that together he and Hermione will be unstoppable, but it's probably going to get worse before it gets better.
Could Harry be having second thoughts about his feelings toward Severus and Hermione? Could he have heard what Dumbledore said to Hermione? And that he told her he forgave her BEFORE she cast the killing curse? Thanks for this fabulous chapter, Teddy! Beth
