| A wonderful story. I thought Hermoine's blood oath was interesting- "I won't let anyone take what belongs to you." If it turns out that it's Hermoine who "belongs" to him then things could end up very dicy for Sirius when she honors the oath. Here's hoping! | Wow. I wonder if Sirius understands that the game is utterly up at this point? He seems to let his hatred of Severus get in the way of thinking straight. As far as Severus, I wonder how much trouble he's going to be in with Hermione. I'm concerned for how they will get along after this. The blood bond just didn't seem right on her part. Her promise was just dead wrong. I'm assuming that it was the result of being the target of the curse, but geez. that's going to be a tough thing to deal with.
I am soooo eagerly awaiting the next update..... Author's Response: Well, it wouldn't be Severus if he didn't occasionally let his mouth run away from him, and it wouldn't be Hermione if she didn't try to control things, and it wouldn't be Sirius if he didn't think he couldn't get into the knickers of every witch on the block. | Fantastic update, I really liked the end, not because the two so-called grown-ups had a pissing contest (though I to think Severus won that one), what I really liked was Hermiones mature reaction (so far:-)) over what she overheard. If Sirius have even one brain-cell left, and I am not sure he does, he should know that the game is lost . I am afraid that the thougth of getting one over Severus will trigg him more than any form of seduction though, not a smart man that Sirius. I hope Hermione will scold Severus for what he deserves being scold for: letting himself be provoked by Sirius and saying thing he don't intend to act upon just to annoy Sirius. | Grrr! I hate the fact that this place doesn't send out email notifications.
There's just so much to love about this chapter, from Severus looking for that very emotion in all the wrong places and not even knowing what it is he's really looking for, to the fact that even under a curse, despite the fact he despises himself, he's a better man than Sirius. (That's assuming he's right about being cursed and it isn't just a perfectly natural reaction between two people who are becoming increasingly attracted to each other.)
I think what I really love about your portrayal of Severus is that the dark is there, it laps around his soul like the lake in that cave laps around the island, and he has these moments where in small ways he gives in to its temptation, but when it comes right down to it, he's a better man than he thinks he is.
Looking forward to more of this once it makes it through vetting.

I hope to show Severus' vulnerability. So many fics portray him as a continuously mean, angry man. I think more than anything, he was a very frightened child pining for love.
