Reviews for Lay Me Low

I loved this chapter so much! Again, you made Hermione's actions and feelings believable and the way the story unfolds is great! I cannot wait to read the next update and see how this story eventually ends. I'm so grateful that you will finish this fic because a lot of promising stories are abandoned by their authors. Thank you for this wonderful story!

Author's Response: Thank you so much for your kind words. I am so pleased that you are enjoying the story. I will not abandon it - this story and me have traveled too far together for me to, and I don't want to, either. In fact, I'm having trouble concentrating on my NaNo project because DMuse is still brewing this next chapter LOL! Thank you, though; it makes a difference knowing that readers want to see the next chapter and look forward to it. Believe me, that makes a LOT of difference!

As always Teddy, your writing is a treasure to read and savor. I’m an unabashed holiday lover, and I always enjoy Christmas scenes with Hermione and Severus, and I love their modest yet heartfelt holiday preparations and their cozy domesticality here. And of course I love the continued theme of Hermione and Severus fighting steadfastly for their shared dream of the future. They have something worth fighting for, and it keeps them going no matter what obstacles or horrors they may face. I’m admittedly not a kid person most of the time, and there are only a few stories/authors (including you, of course) who write them in a way I enjoy, but hearing Severus promise that he would be a good father just about broke me. It’s so heartbreaking that he would consider such a simple desire as having a child with the woman he loves an impossibility. That man deserves every happiness and more, and if (when!) Hermione and Severus finally get their HEA, it will truly be well-earned. On another note, I found it interesting that Lucius has a (very fitting!) patronus, since I had thought that the Death Eaters couldn’t cast patronuses. Do they do so in your story, or is that a hint of altered loyalties after Azkaban? I’m interested in seeing what Severus wants with Lupin, and will definitely be counting down the days until my next Teddy fix! Don’t keep us addicts hanging for too long! ;)

Author's Response: Kelly, thank you so much for your amazing review. I agree; the character of Severus Snape deserved so much more than JKR was willing to give, but thank goodness we have the ability to give him that HEA that he truly deserves. It is a story that is gradually growing to a close, but there is still much to come. I had hoped to finish before Christmas, but I know that will not happen with NaNo, but hopefully I can get an update or two before then! Until then, thank you so much for your continued encouragement and your wonderful reviews - I know they mean an awful lot to me.

I started reading this story earlier, and have now come back to it. I enjoy it, but am somewhat confused as to when this is supposed to take place. Sirius is alive, and Umbridge is at the school, but yet Hermione is 18? Umbridge was year 5, but Hermione wouldn't turn 18 till September of 7th year. Not sure if I missed a clue or not.

Author's Response: Welcome back! Yes, in the earlier chapters (I'd have to go back and check, but it is shortly after she is injured at the Department of Ministries that she and Madame Pomfrey performed a spell showing that she'd aged to 18 during her use of the time turner. She explained in an earlier chapter to that how she shameless abused her time-turner. It's a bit of fudging on my part; in canon she didn't use it that much, but, as you can see, canon is a little skewed here, but by the time she and Severus marry, she is eighteen.

The cogs are turning. The machine has come to life. Severus is installed and Thicknesse is no longer in charge. How Hermione could sit there and just knit gloves while this chaos is whirring around the two of them, is incredible. To try to keep a sense of normalcy between the two of them is probably the only way they could keep their sanity right now, but it's so crazy. One wonders how CanonSnape did it by himself.

Author's Response: I often think that. The idea that Severus was completely alone during that last, horrific year must have been so soul-destroying he was relieved for it to be over. As I so often say, I want him to have a better chance, and this story is my way of trying to give him a little succor during what was definitely the worst year in a lifetime of worst years. The whole story is about them trying to deal with the madness going on around them. But be ye not afraid - the excrement is definitely preparing to kiss the oscillator very soon.

Fantastic chapter. Brutal but also very tender in the way they take care of each other.

Author's Response: Thank you - I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I definitely think of them as 'you and me against the world'.

This is an amazing story. I wanted to read a new story, but couldn't decide which one to start. When I noticed your story had a large number of reviews for each chapter, I decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did because I have been blown away by your writing and creativity. You are amazing. And what's more, your plot has totally knocked me on my ass! I never saw Hermione being the killer of Albus! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I don't want to read the next chapter because then I must wait for you to update. I am stuck in limbo, what shall I do? Probably read the next chapter and then wait until December for your update. Thank you so much for creating a wonderful story.

Author's Response: Thank you so very much! I am thrilled that you gave my story a chance and that you have enjoyed it. NaNo is going very well, so hopefully I will update very soon. Even when I'm not writing it, I'm always thinking of Lay Me Low, and working on it with the Muse. I hope you will continue to enjoy the story, and I look forward to your feedback in future.

HI Teddy. I always thought the murder of Charity was horrific. Definitely required for the plot and indeed to emphasise albeit with hindsight the dreadful tightrope poor Severus had to walk in order not to blow his cover. I thought Jo was very brave to include it in canon considering this series started out a set of kids' books. That aside OMG Teddy....their wondrous survivor sex has never been written better....and his Northern need for sustenance...my son-in-law from Bolton is like that......needs to know where his next meal is coming from. Utterly realistic and showed his humanity and normalcy. I do hope she made him a bacon butty. And has he now impregnated her for real this time? The dream sequence they shared was lovely and ethereal and so beautifully described. Well if I don't "speak" to you before, I'm off with the family to Eurodisney mid November. All Hail the Mouse! Best wishes, Love Ali xxxx.

Author's Response: Ali, it's always so wonderful hearing from you. I have a very good friend who always says that after sex, he really only wants a good sarnie, and I thought Severus needed one as well. Food can dull pain sometimes, and I think what they had to witness was horrific, and I hoped readers would understand the need for their frantic coupling afterwards, and it seems everyone saw exactly where I was coming from. Yes, they'd seen something awful and had to walk away as if it were nothing, but afterward they would need to release that 'survivor's guilt' in sex. They are a sensuous couple, and I think they would need one another that way. As far as Hermione being pregnant, it's a little too early to say, but hopefully when you return from Disney, there will be some answers for you! Have a wonderful time, and thank you, as always for totally 'getting' me.

Teddy, my love, I've been waiting for this chapter as if it were Christmas, and you never fail to disappoint. Amazingly beautiful chapter, and i can't wait to see what you have in store for us next!

Author's Response: Bless you, HalfBlood. You always make me feel so good! Thank you for your always encouraging words. I'm working on several chapters so I hope it won't be too long before I get a new update posted.
