I liked it. In this fic Snape is walking a fine line, and with Rodolphus he fell on the side of the dark. It's very much in keeping with the the character you've created here.

Author's Response: Thanks. Snape goes back and forth. I think what's coming may shock people.

i think you did a great job with this part. can't wait for more.

Author's Response: thank you! I appreciate the support! More up this evening or tomorrow.

Opposite to what you may think-- I actually enjoyed this chapter, and thought it was a long time in coming. Hermione needed to see what Severus was willing to do to protect her. Unfortunately-- she might not be ready to accept that kind of protection. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Author's Response: I'm glad that you liked it. She has much thinking to do, but she'll come round. More up this evening!

Please don't stress yourself over this chapter! I thought it perfectly in character for Severus, and perfectly in character with REAL LIFE. Anybody who is a mom, who has felt that "mother Tigress" rise up in her at the thought of her babies being harmed (I mean real harm, as in if someone tried to kidnap them, or break in the house and harm them, or molest them---forgive me, but we live in a high-crime neighborhood, and such is life all around us---these are very real dangers I have to be on guard against and guard my children against)---I would not hesitate to do WHATEVER I had to do to defend my little ones, and I would do it without apology or regret. I don't consider that vengeance, or reacting from my own pain. If someone tries to hurt my little ones, I WiILL do all within my strengh to stop them, and to make SURE they won't be a threat to my own little ones again. Hermione is Snape's "little one", not in the sense of a child, but in the sense of his love (even though he won't acknowledge it to himself), and his behavior is completely justified and understandable. But, like Cocoa, I think fireworks are in the future, as Hermione (who is young---read "naive", and immature---read "everything is either black or white") comes to terms with the fact that Snape is capable of such violence, that he did refer to her as a "girl", and that she wonders where his true loyalties lie I hope Hermione shows the wisdom to realize the tremendous power she holds over Snape right now, and the tremendous potential for her to have a profound influence on the direction he takes, for good or ill. A tremendous story---can't wait for more!

Love,

Rubyfey

Author's Response: That's exactly the protectiveness I was shooting for. The one that would make you do anything at all if someone harmed your own. I have a whole section for Hermione and her feelings in the next chapter. Hope you enjoy! thank you so much

I think that this just reminded me of how very young on naive Hermione really is... and how much older and more morally challenged Severus is. Their differences seemed to stand out in stark contrast in this chapter. He loves her, and would do anything for her. Now that she has seen what that anything means, I can understand that she needs time to reflect.

Author's Response: Very big contrast. And yes! Now, she does know what anything truly means! She's gonna have a good bit of inner thought in the next chapter. Somewhat.

Good chapter! (The rest of the review is at my LJ) ;)

Author's Response: Teehee! You know, I went back a few days later to be certain I had answered all of your questions in my chapter, and it was gone! I said, "Damn!" Ah well... teehee

Oh I think Severus would have done exactly what he done. Even though he has not admitted it, I think he loves his witch. Now, as for what he did in front of Hermione, I think there will be some reprocussions. (From her.) Especially when he called her girl. And in front of Narcissa, no less. She highly doubts his loyalties now, I think. She flat out asked him. Oh I love it! Enjoy the angst! Can't wait for the next one! xoxoxo (smooches!)

Author's Response: He does. He'll realize it soon enough. She hates the way he talked to her, and she keep replaying what happened over and again in her mind. However, she'll be logical. xoxo Nay has the next.
