| I'm reading my way through this fic - enjoying myself tremendously. However a few thoughts has risen. At the beginning what really straught me was tha naivety of Hermione. I know you said somewhere that she is not as naive as we think, but I don't think we have really seen that. She strikes me as just as naive and immature as any other 18 year old I have ever known (myself included). In a way that is one of the strenghts of this fic - that she seems like a true 18 year old. Battle and war will in some ways make you older - but not in all things. Her naivety is also one of the things I find difficult with the story, because what does a man like Severus (and what a brilliant manipulative Severus you have drawn here) really see in a very immature 18 year old? I feel the anticipation building between them, but I never really understood why she becomes so special to him, nor him to her. She seems to get over his greasyness and teacher status affully fast? I am very fascinated by this keeping Severus sitting on the fence. it makes for a very interesting take on him - and particulrly his relationship with Albus. But I can't help but wonder if it would have been even more interesting with a more mature and insightful Hermione, who would be able to see through him a bit better. I hope this comes across as questions and thoughts from a devoted reader, and not as disrespectful in any way. As I said I really enjoy the story - and I am really cuious to read the rest... Author's Response: I purposely projected Hermione as her true 18 year old self, especially after I saw how she was in the last book. She's not some super witch or 18 with the mentality of a 30 years old. What I meant about her not being as naive as she appears, she comes into her own, and that's all I have to say. To say anything else would spoil it for you--especially when you have so many chapters left. I see Hermione as a kind person who respects others and believes in some people without question. She's always respected Snape and "believed" in him. Where is the change from Snape being the greasy git to her caring for him? I thought I'd made it obvious from her pov that she never thought him to be a greasy git. That's Harry's thinking... or the readers' opinions. So when he woos her with her favorite author and treats her in ways her friends do not, he appeals to her. As far as his teacher status, well, she believed it was to throw off Voldemort at first, to trick him. But she realized that she liked it, so she wanted to go a bit further, which I think is acceptable and exciting for a young girl to feel "wanted" by someone such as Snape. Snape is possessive. I am afraid it will take time for his "love" to develop, and when it does, you'll see why. Even Hermione wasn't in love right away, those feelings came after her desire and caring. I normally like to have Snape either good or bad, but I decided for a different spin this time. We never actually know until much letter who he will truly support. A more mature and insightful Hermione just doesn't appeal to me in this kind of story. How would he be able to lure her in so easily otherwise? Besides, she's still a student, and I refuse to think of her as completely mature and all-knowing at 18. She's great at memorizing texts that she's studied, but she lacks experience. She'll get that through here though. And don't worry. I don't mind when people have questions. I can only hope that I've explained my reasonings well enough without spoiling the rest of the plot for you. You're not the first to wish for an "older -type" Hermione, but she won't be found here. She comes into her own in time; she just needs a wake up call first. | |||

| Lucius winning a medal. So sad that Severus wasn't there to get his medal. Severus a living sex-doll. I really like your magical office, I wish I had one. Lucius helping Hermione, wow, that has to be fiction...LOL. Excellent chapter, hard to believe there is only one more to go. I'll be sorry to see it end, I certainly have enjoyed the story. Author's Response: I'm with you, but our poor sex doll had to stay home. *hehe* I decided to redeem Lucius some. In the final chapter, he shows a little bit more redemption. | It's 2:30am for me and I just couldn't stop reading. This is wonderful. I've enjoyed most of your other stories, but this is the greatest. (Wait, that's not what I meant. I've enjoyed all of your stories that I've read. I just haven't read them all yet.) I thinks your depiction of Severus' motivation is spot on. DEs must just do what is necessary to survive, whether their actions support the "light" or the "dark" in the end. Sometimes I think Hermione is really flaky and childish, but then I remember that she's only 18. I was a total idiot when I was that age, even though most thought me quite intelligent in an academic sense. And thanks for sex that is much closer to RL. Of course my fantasy Severus is a total sexual GOD, but your version rings true and is so compliments your story. Can't wait for the end. I hope I know how it's likely to end, no nasty surprises. Thanks for this gift. Author's Response: I was quite wild at 18 and thought I owned the world. I do like to portray her more real to life, but she's growing into her own slowly. That will be more evident in the final two chapters, one of which is up now. You know, I prefer to read "normal" sex that's still good as compared to all that fantastical bs where I end up smikring and thinking that it's just complete bs. I feel that would be out of place here, though at times I do get in the mood for it. Teehee. Thank you very much for the thoughts. | |||

| Oh Merlin, where to start??? Well, first off, I think I cried my eyes out over the memorial service. Your characterization, in a word, is simply PHENOMENAL. From Draco to Harry to Ginny to Pansy. It's all been wonderful. Hermione's maturity and her devotion to Severus, in my opinion, has redeemed her for any bone-headed mistake she's ever made in the past. And, of course, Severus taking the hex meant for Hermione has done the same for him. The circle is almost complete and will be thanks to the intervention of one... Lucius Malfoy? Now that was a treat! Even a portion of redemption for Lucius seems so fitting. Severus was his comrade, after all. This was probably the best, and most poignant chapter of all. THANK YOU, SW69!
