| Oh poor, poor Severus. Ron deserves a sound thrashing for his idiocy. I wonder why Severus watches Hermione sleep? Is it because he wants to watch over her, or because she is his comfort and he longs to be near her, or because he's a horny old bastard and wants to get in bed with her? You don't have to answer, I'm just thinking out loud, here. Whatever his reasons, I am so happy that Hermione can calm and comfort him. I, too, would love to have his head in my lap and to stroke his hair as he sleeps ... Author's Response: Ron muffed it for certain, but we all make foolish choices when we are angry. | Great update, poor Severus and Ron is a jerk. I really hope that maybe Hermione can help Severus to overcome this illness and function and they become a couple. Author's Response: Well, this is listed in the 'romance' section, so I suppose they'll get to the romance one of these days! ;) Ron was quite a prat, but he'll learn from the experience. | Ah, I was wondering what happened to those rapid updates. Although finals are now over and done with (hurrah!). I liked this chapter a lot, but one thing that made me rather uneasy was Ron. In all the previous chapters, he seemed to have grown up a lot, and was acting very maturely around Severus, dealing with his temper tantrum with a cool head, and even letting him rub his dangly bits in his robe (!), which was a nice change. But in this chapter he seems to lose progress, going backwards into being a judgmental teenager again. I can see that it was the only way to bring up the growing concern about Hermione, but that's sort of how I felt and I thought maybe you might want to know that. But still, loved the chapter! Author's Response: I'm sorry that you feel that way. I promise you that Ron won't act like a prat all the time. It was my intention in this fic to write a more mature Harry and Ron, but to still have thier moments of prattish behavior. You see that in Harry when he acts so badly about showing Hermione the last two scenes in the Pensieve. You see it in Ron when he has a bout of temper following a scary spider incident and a little misplaced jealousy. Even the most rational of people can make a stupid decision when angry. Ron has done well in this fic so far. If anything, I would think that his slip of temper would make him even more careful in the future. Thanks for reading! :) | |||

| More, more, MORE!!! I liked this chapter because of it's simplicity. We all knew what would happen if Ron said Dumbledore's name. But it was the calming of Snape's fit that made this especially sweet. I hoped that we'd see them talk TO Snape, as opposed to over him, like a piece of furniture. Does Snape not care about that? I'd expect him to freak out about them acting like he was invisible, or not in the room with them. Author's Response: I think Severus was too busy to notice, but it was quite rude of them, wasn't it? Hermione, of course, speaks too him, but I think the boys were too flabberghasted. This was the first time they'd seen Severus act that way, after all. Hermione has had a bit more experience with it. | Poor Severus. Ron is SOOOO going to get his butt kicked, either by Hermione or Harry, I'm not sure which. Maybe both. He seems to feel that Hermione is trustworthy, and she seems to be the best person to console him. Boy, he sounds like a full-time job, though. She's probably going to end up doing sleep duty with him sooner or later, isn't she? And not the fun kind, but the 'He can't sleep without a security blanket and I seem to be the security blanket' kind. I wonder how he would feel if Hermione died because of the horcruxes backfiring. Will she ask him about them? He does seem to know what to do in canon, but I don't know if you have him remebering it or if his illness would inhibit. I guess I'll find out soon, eh? ;D Great chapter, you really had Severus steal my sympathy. Author's Response: Thank you so much! It's hard to portray Severus as being so helpless in some situations without making him unrecognizable. I'm glad that you think I'm doing all right. Thanks! :) | |||

| Oh I just LOVE this story! Poor Severus. It was heartbraking to read about him reacting to the death of a spider and Albus's name. Harmione must have some inkilling that if he finds out what she plans he will go mad(er). I love the development of affection between Severus and Harmione that has slowly begon to take hold. The shower scene was grand in the last chapter and the drama in this chapter was quite the opposite - good job on that you keep us off balance. I can't wait for more!!!!
