| Ooooh.... cliffie ending!
I was a little unclear on the Pensieve scene in this chapter. I know Hagrid's not the brightest of people, but if he had heard something as clearly spoken as "What kind of friend would make me promise to kill him?" I don't think he would have just let it go, especially once Dumbledore was murdered. Of course, then I realised people can go a bit further, radius-wise, in a Pensieve than what was actually heard, so had Hagrid walked away for that part and it's only on playback that it comes through? I mean, it is one in the morning and i just got home from a 10-hour shift, but i wasn't entirely clear. Perhaps a bit more emphasis on the 'pull' they feel at the end of the memory? When does the pull start? In any case, interesting chapter, and I'm glad to see Crazy!Snape back in action. ~Tiddlywinks Author's Response: I'm sorry that the conversation confused you. In book 6, Hagrid states that he was trying not to eavesdrop at the time, and he heard very little of that conversation. In my chapter, I tried to make it very clear that the trio moved much closer to the speakers than Hagrid ever did. So when I wrote the following lines: “You are supposed to be my friend, Albus,” Severus said in so soft a voice that Hermione could barely make it out. “What kind of friend would make me promise to kill him?” I thought that made it clear enough that, Hermione, who is standing quite close can barely hear Snape say that, then Hagrid, who is farther away would never have heard it at all. I hesitate to be more obvious with it, as I don’t want to look as if I’m trying to beat readers over the head, but perhaps I didn’t go far enough? That’s a hard call to make, in any fic. I suppose I’d rather err on the side of grace then on the side of big stick, Lol! At any rate, I hope you enjoyed the chapter despite this confusion! Thanks! :) | |||

| Great chapter! Evil cliffie! ARRRRRGGHH. What else can I say except that it was worth the wait. Loved Hermione's reasoning for not letting anything be known to Hagrid. I am very impressed with how well you captured Hagrid's speech. Vaughn is a mage in her own right for getting that down properly! I am very pleased with your notion of the Snape/Dumbledore conversation that Hagrid overheard. It is very plausible and makes perfect sense to me. I sincerely hope that the whore-shouting man interacts with some or all of our Dream Team in the next chapter! Thank you for writing and posting this so quickly -- it is very exciting!
