| I hope you can get to updating soon. I have a few theories floating around in my brain, one of which has something to do with the Headmaster's portrait and his obsession with butterflies. Am I on to anything?? Guess I'll have to wait...sigh....

| Not a review, Pooka, just a big hoorah about your update! Can't tell you how much I love your work! (OK, enough !!!, sign of madness apparently).
I'm a recent joinee who thought about writing some fanfic, but seeing the standard set by you and a (very) few others, I've concluded it's safer to lurk in the meantime. I found this story on an early search, read your back catalogue, and concluded that I couldn't possibly live up to the standards you've set. I've had to face the realisation that I'm not bad at stringing words together but I'm horribly short on imagination.
I could pick so many examples of your wonderful work but I'll choose three. Three's traditional, after all.
Love/hate everything about DROWNING. Dark, dark stuff but incredibly powerful imagery. It's stayed with me in a persavive way.
The jarvey, Turpin. I love him, I want one, I hate you for owning him.
The concept that Snape is 'unicorn catnip' made me laugh so much it's indecent. How you then played the situaton into the story was masterful.
I suppose most of my comments should have been confined to a private message, but it was an impulse thing on my part to express enthusiasm for your writing. Hope I haven't breached any rules.
Real life has an unfortunate habit of intruding on artistic endeavours, but I'm hoping you'll manage to update soon. I can't work out how you'll finish the story, but can't wait to find out.

Author's Response: Aren't you the sweetest thing! I'm so pleased that you have been enjoying my writing, and I got a big kick out of hearing which things stuck with you most. I miss Turpin, myself. He was so much fun to write! I want a jarvey! As for you, you should try to write something! When I was writing NJ, my first story ever, if I'd been comparing myself to writers that I was reading at the time (Pearle, NotSoSaintly, JadeOrchid, Michmak) I never would have written a word. Write something for yourself, then get yourself a beta reader and see what happens. If it's inspiration you are looking for, the challenges that are put up on WIKTT and Potter Place are always a great way to get ideas. | Ok, I am DETERMINED to start doing proper reviews while I’m reading this! (I’m a terrible reviewer, even when I love a story :s) I might be a latecomer and still catching up, but that doesn’t mean I can’t express what I think about things, so that’s exactly what I’m going to do! So I guess I’ll just get on with it…
I LOVE your portrayal of insane-Snape! Sometimes it makes me laugh out loud, I share the frustration of everyone who has to work with him, and the sudden switches in his moods work incredibly well. I don’t think anyone could have done better! AND he’s still damn hot!!
Hermione’s theory about how Dumbledore died seems pretty plausible. I hadn’t even realised when I was reading HBP that AK had worked differently with Albus than with other victims! But now you mention it, it fits.
I guess that’s all, ‘till you update!

| Ooohhh, you could be on to something there with the non-verbal spells. I always wondered how it was possible for Dumbledore to fall off the tower, with all the kids up there for Astronomy lessons, surely there would have been some kind of protection to stop anyone accidentally falling over the edge *cough, Neville, cough*. Great to see another chapter of this story and as ever, eagerly anticipating the next one. Author's Response: Lol! I don't know, the wizarding world doesn't seem overly protective to me. They teach flying by sticking kids on brooms and saying "have at it!" And while all know that the forrest is a dangerous place, there are no wards to keep kids out. So I'm inclined to doubt that there's any protection on the tower. Just my opinion, of course, but it's an interesting question to think about. Thanks! :) | |||
