| GREAT ENDING! Even though I hate endings. I really liked this fanfic. I don't know if you accept suggestions on how it could have gone better, but I guess I'll wing it.
I thought Hermione's powers were quite creative. You killed me when you didn't go into detail about the lessons. And after Hermione's powers were stable you seemed to drift away from it.
Awwwwww, it would have been super cool if you could have added some Harry and Draco spice. I love that couple.
Everything was cool and creative. I give you a 9! (I would have given you a 10 but I wanted more Harry/Draco!) =) Author's Response: I didn't go into the lessons for one great, whopping reason. Boring! It's not like watching Hermione learn spells, it would be more like watching Hermione learn to meditate. "Now close your eyes and feel what's around you." Not much of a spectator sport, learning to be an empath. It's all mental, nothing much to watch. Or to read about, for that matter. I'm sure there are readers who may have enjoyed it, but the fic was becoming a novel as it was. I had origionally thought it would be about 12 chapters and it grew to over twice that much. I did want to go more into Draco and Harry, but as a writer I was completely inexperienced with the whole slash scene, and I knew very well that I had a large group of Ash readers who do not read slash. So while I enjoyed showing the boys as a real honest-to-goodness couple and hinting at the slashy goodness, I decided to shy away from all out slashy smut. It was a story about Hermione and Severus and their inner journeys after all, H/D and Hermione's powers were really secondary to the main plot, and therefore less explicit. That was what I was going for, at any rate. Only readers like you can decide for yourself whether I managed to get there! Thanks for reading and for leaving such a thought-filled review! | Dearest Pooka, Remorse overwhelmed me and here I am, writing a review of the epilogue. Evil Novinha, evil Novinha. Yet Hermione still had an almost unconscious need to touch Severus constantly - I liked it, because it sounds so realistic. And sweet and yet not fluffy. Too fluffy, that is. He never said a word about it; he simply walked into his bedroom and calmly charmed his wardrobe and dresser larger so that she would have room for her things. - another one of those passages that simply make you all warm inside. I call it 'sercocieplacz' - 'heartwarmer'.:D The end is the time for a summary - I did enjoy the tale immensly, dearest Pooka. Your writing is getting more and more pleasant to read with the time and you have this gift of creating memorable characters. You introduce interesting new twists, write tasty smut (I really, realy liked the clothes-on bit) and close the story in a pleasant, not rushed way. I do hope you'll continue to write HG/SS. And now, getting personal - you remember how I mentioned I am having a hard time? Unfortunately, things didn't go the way I wanted them to. My Dad died from a stroke, which was most likely too dangerous in the first place for the doctors to be able to save him. Yet we hoped for a while that things would resolve differently. | I have just finished reading "Naked Journey" and "Overcome With Feelin." You are really developing into a fine writer. Both stories are quite original and very entertaining. If you are going to write future work that is compatable with HBP, I'm not too sure if you can make Snape into a simpathetic character; and since Snape and Dumbledore are two of my favorite characters, I don't know if I'll like stories that are too close to Canon. I really didn't care for HBP. I read it once and put it away. Not my usual way with Potter books. Author's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to review! It means a lot to me. I know I'm just starting out as a writer, but I already feel like I've made a lot of progress from where I started! As far as post HBP stories go, I think a clever writer could write a story that stills shows Snape in a sympathetic light. I think a clever writer could make you weep for him. People do things in wartime that they would never consider otherwise. Even the fiercest and deadliest or warriors can love their wife and kids, after all. So, while I know HBP was a bit of a shock, don't give up hope where fanfic is concerned! Thanks again! :) | |||
