| *sigh* I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you! This was a GREAT chapter! They just seem to get better and better! However, I think that Hermione needs to probe Turpin's mind. That would be interesting. Oh, Hermione just needs to keep invading everyone's mind. After all, practive makes perfect! Oh yeah, and Hermione should have said "I a," instread of "I'm" and "mother trucker" instead of "dolt." | Enjoyable indeed! Although, I find it ungentlemanly of Snape to allow a young lady to walk alone into the dungeons, and back to her tower late at night. Now that he knows where the Room of Requirement is, he might as well meet her there. And then floo to Ocho Rios. Sorry Pooka, I'm not going to drop that vacation idea. I remember that scene in the Great Hall when Hermione was overwhelmed by everyone's emotions. She felt that Ron was somewhat jealous... perhaps of Harry. I'm not quite sure where you were going with that, but I'd love for up elaborate on it sometime. Author's Response: Ahhh...I remember that bit indeed. Hermione is laughing with Ron and feels a strong wave of jealousy, she wonders why she is jealous of Ron. *giggle* But I never said Ron was jealous. Perhaps some black-eyed man noted their joviality, as he notes how Hermione then snuggles with Harry when she is upset. I was a bit vague on purpose in that scene, I fear. I was trying desperately not to give away too much too soon. As for Ocho Rios, I can tell right now that this fic will have to have a little vacation epilogue, or you may never forgive me! :D I suppose it is rather ungentlemanly of Snape to let her wander back to the tower alone, but he is undercover and she is safe enough with Harry's cloak. | As someone who lives in ona of the said contries that sell bits of forests I would like to add my penny here.
The 'chopping down' is done illegaly, the gov. tries to put a hold on it. The Brazillian gov. even aked the USA for a 24/7 satellite monitoration - which was denied. This illegal exploration is made by rich (and thus, slipery) people, some times from other contries.
These poor contries are not THAT poor. If this kind of exploration was done legally, the taxes would be so high that the comps. doing it would have almos no profit at all. Author's Response: I certainly meant no offense, nor was I specifically speaking of Brazil. I simply have gotten tired of hearing folks say various forms of "why don't those countries do something about it?" When I know the answer is more complicated than that. I am not surprised my pig-headed govenment was of no use to you, as they benifit the most from continued deforestation. However, I did do my homework before I wrote that chapter, and I stand by what I said. Of course, comercial logging is not the only issue, clearing land to raise cattle for lucrative beef exports is but one more example of ways deforestation is profitable.
