| It's rare that I find my self laughing audibly at a story: I do so like Andrene. Is she coming back after, or is this it?
I'd squeak, too. Honestly! And I can smell the food. (It helps that I've got a pepper pot going in the kitchen right now. . .I'm ready to strip paint myself!)

| Mmmm Doro Wot, now I have strong urge to go hit one of the Ethiopean or Eritrean places near my house. Shame I'm stuckat work. But your story is a lovely diversion, especially while I'm waiting for deploys to finish happening so I can go home.
It will be a shame to see Andrene go, but she really can't stick around without retarding or diverting the story line. But she did add some wonderful color while she was here. | Dear plaidpooka I bow to your genius in writing
I was rather surprised when you mentionned the dish of rice and peas because my grandmother,my mother and myself have cooked this dish more times than I can count The spotted bean are named "black eyed pea" and I have always known this dish under the name of "chrestos y moros" or if you prefer"christians and Moors" because of the contrast between the rice and the beans
You reminded me of a delicious meal and I think I'm going to pull my pans as soon as I finish my praise of your writing It's always a pleasure to read your work Author's Response: You are such a sweetheart! Lol, living in Kentucky, I am well aquainted with the blackeyed pea. Yummy! But I didn't know if it was recognisable in Britain. Would Hermione know a blackeyed pea if it bit her on the arse? Such are the quandries of an American girl writing a fic chock full of Brit characters! I didn't know "chrestos y moros" though, what a charming name! We are lucky enough in my city, to have a fabulous restaurant named Cafe Kilamanjaro which has not only rice and peas, but the Jamaican Jerk chicken and the African Doro Wat (which I only order when feeling quite brave) Delicious! | I'm not surprised that Severus likes it hot and spicy! This chapter was nice and it's always lovely to see Turpin, although I don't like the names he calls Severus! One question though: is it quite fair to have someone be able to tell when someone is lying all the time? Sometimes I think this power Hermione was given intrudes too much into a person's private feelings, that are none of her business. Author's Response: Lol, you know, everyone worries about poor Severus if Hermione can tell if he's lying! That is a matter you will have to decide for your own self. Personally, I think the wiley Slytherin is more than a match for Miss Granger, lie detector or no. Not to mention the fact that as a Gryff, it's not a skill Hermione would use with abandon. Even if you put her high scruples aside, Andrene has made clear to her that there are some things she might be happier not knowing. As for the power itself, that's the point of this fic. While it might on the surface seem like such a power makes one too invincible, it's hardly going to be smooth sailing for the Empath. I imagine all such powere have their strengths and their weaknesses. Thanks for the review! :) | |||
