Reviews for The Man Who Sold the World

Very promising beginning. I can't help but draw parallels between World War II Germany and the conditions represented in your story. I'm very curious to see where you're going with this.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review! Yes, I did intend the parallels with Nazi Germany. Lurve, Meggory

This may not be much of a compliment, since I've never been to London, but I just assumed you were a native. An actual native might say otherwise, but I was immediately convinced. I even thought, "This is why I don't write fanfiction. Writers like this would see straight through me to my Californian roots."

Really amazing start. You hit the ground running and yet there is already so much backstory explained. Loved your original character. Loved how historical and worldly this feels. Your Malfoy is *truly* chilling. I was actually feeling quite distressed by his presence.

For some reason I love Hermione decked out in the overcoat. I like that she's so inconspicuous, even to Malfoy, who should recognize her. "Impure, I" Oooh, you make me shudder!

You’ve really created an extension of Rowling’s world here, exploring a more thorough blend of the magical and non-magical worlds. Really lovely. Your descriptions of the crumbling British Museum worked especially well to establish a complete demise of all things civil, cultural, and diverse.

“Friends and family and Snape” really struck a chord, and it was an especially nice touch that Snape’s name can be hidden like a secret. Fitting that he’d be included but still somewhat apart.

I’m really, really looking forward to the next installment.

Author's Response: Thanks for the great review! I'm glad I managed to fool someone with my grasping at London landmarks and streets. I used a couple of maps, including a double decker tour map I received when I was in London (very briefly). It's funny you mention my explanation of "backstory;" my fiction writing instructor just executed my final story piece because he didn't understand the backstory (but then again, maybe he didn't read it well enough...). I hope my next chapter lives up to your expectations! Lurve, Meggory

I forgot to ask - will there be any romance in this story?

Author's Response: I'm not sure yet! I have a chapter with unexpected lemons planned, but I have no idea how the story's going to get to that point... still working on it. If this story actually gets done, I may write a sequel with real, planned romance in the plot. It may depend on the outcry of my reviewers and the maliciousness of my brain. Lurve, Meggory

Lots of possibilities here... I'd love another chapter!

Author's Response: Thanks for the review! Another chapter should be up soon! Lurve, Meggory

Oh, I /like/ this. Very, very well done. Not much to comment on except that you've set up the atmophere perfectly, and I look forward to seeing where you take this. I'm interested to know about the last stages of the war, including the Muggle and Russian involvements; I hope that backstory comes up at some point.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review! The back story will come up, and I hope to make it an integral part of the plot. More to follow as soon as humanly possible. Lurve, Meggory
