Really amazing start. You hit the ground running and yet there is already so much backstory explained. Loved your original character. Loved how historical and worldly this feels. Your Malfoy is *truly* chilling. I was actually feeling quite distressed by his presence.

For some reason I love Hermione decked out in the overcoat. I like that she's so inconspicuous, even to Malfoy, who should recognize her. "Impure, I" Oooh, you make me shudder!

You’ve really created an extension of Rowling’s world here, exploring a more thorough blend of the magical and non-magical worlds. Really lovely. Your descriptions of the crumbling British Museum worked especially well to establish a complete demise of all things civil, cultural, and diverse.

“Friends and family and Snape” really struck a chord, and it was an especially nice touch that Snape’s name can be hidden like a secret. Fitting that he’d be included but still somewhat apart.

I’m really, really looking forward to the next installment.

Author's Response: Thanks for the great review! I'm glad I managed to fool someone with my grasping at London landmarks and streets. I used a couple of maps, including a double decker tour map I received when I was in London (very briefly). It's funny you mention my explanation of "backstory;" my fiction writing instructor just executed my final story piece because he didn't understand the backstory (but then again, maybe he didn't read it well enough...).
