But "ornery" is a huge Britpick - it's not a word we ever use, and it's not likely Hermione would ever think it unless she'd spent years in the states. If I understand its menaing correctly, the British equivalent would be "bloody-minded." Author's Response: Okay, thanks for the head's up! Although my dictionary tells me the meaning of ornery is "stubborn." So I'll change it to that.
