Severus afraid of a car? That is funny.

Author's Response: Yeah, I laughed. For a long time.

This story is well worth being mentioned in the Featured Stories column, make no mistake in thinking that it isn't. If they had somewhere at this site for people to recommend others work I would have this one listed.

Author's Response: Thanks!

Love it! This -is- shaping up to feel like a true British adventure. It tells me something about myself that, were I in Hermione's shoes, I wouldn't have questioned Snape's choices for an instant. It just seems like the natural thing to do. You have a wand that's capable of getting someone to obey you utterly, and you need them to obey you utterly, or you risk being killed (or worse), you use the wand. Imperio. Simple as that. Sigh. At any rate, I'm enjoying this quite a lot, and can't wait to see where you take it.

Author's Response: Yeah, I would have done the same, but Hermione's got that whole conscience thing.

Thanks for the update! Stupid me, not thinking that there would not be any other problems that they would have to face to get out of London. I wondered if Hermione realized that she used Severus' name in front of the Captain? Not that it matters, since he was obliviated, but I was ever so glad that Severus was strong enough with the Imperious Curse to override any doubts the man might have had when he saw the difference in the name on the card from what she had said (I would have thought that if anyone was under imperious that they would still reatain their mental faculties, just deep inside and that certain discrepancies would knock them out of it...just my perception. I don't think that is the case really). I wonder what happened to everyone to have just left everything they had there like that? If they were taken prisoner or killed, wouldn't the house have been ransacked for usable goods? I love that Hermione told him off when he wouldn't get in the car. How funny! I really am enjoying this fic, and urge you to update asap!

Author's Response: Ah, you know, that's a good point. Snape, as we all know, is a spectacular Occlumens; his ability to manipulate the minds of others is truly amazing. I tried to characterize Rampton as just another officer in a large, sprawling army--Voldemort isn't going to screen everyone of his recruits or drafts for mental faculties. Rampton isn't a real threat, which is why Snape can easily manipulate him. I wrote this whole chapter around the line "Severus, get in the fucking car." It was running around in my head for weeks.

Scotland?? Gregorovich’s is in Scotland?? Oh well. She should've looked for the Muggle family's piggy bank for more money; they'll need it for petrol. He could've told her that the Captain had to be Obliviated to protect HIM, so that he wouldn't be killed for aiding them (since he can't confess what he doesn't remember). Nice to see the mention of Dumbledore getting his hands dirty when necessary, although I'd have liked to read Hermione's reaction to that knowledge. THANK YOU for updating!!

Author's Response: Yeah, I know it's contrived, but Gregorovich had to be somewhere, right? Somewhere that's not say, the Ukraine or Russia or Latvia. Somewhere Snape and Hermione can drive to.... Thanks for the heads up about the petrol; I'll put it in somewhere just for you! As for protecting Rampton, I figured Snape really wouldn't care. Rampton's just a low-level Death Eater who ended up being a useful tool. Snape's concern is really to cover his and Hermione's trail. And THANK YOU for reviewing!

Dum-dum-duuuummmmm! I've just picked this up off the rec boards, and I can see why your story is there. Very well done. Count another reader in on your journey!

Author's Response: Can I ask a stupid question? What the heck are the rec boards? I honestly have no idea what you're talking about.... but it sounds like it's a good thing.

Author's Response: Er, Wait--okay, I know what a rec board is, but which rec board are you talking about?

Agh! This story is wonderful, just wonderful! I'm a sucker for "everything's gone to shit, but here's what happened next--" stories, and this fits the bill admirably. I knew I shouldn't have started reading it, seeing that it wasn't finished, but I couldn't resist. I will be anxiously looking forward to updates. Oh, and by the by, I enjoy your Author's Notes. You've woven everything together cleverly and reading the notes give one a full appreciation of that. Good luck in writing the rest!

Author's Response: Thanks for the review! Don't worry, I promise I will finish this story. I'm glad you enjoy the Author's Notes; it's really just my outlet to explain things that may seem terribly random and obscure to my poor readers.
