Reviews for The Man Who Sold the World

What a fantastic chapter, evil cliffie and all! I love the conversations between Severus and Hermione, particularly the one in the car about his birthday. Slipping Minerva in there ... you have such a talent for making the surreal seem perfectly normal. Thanks so much for the latest chapter, and I'm looking forward to the next! Best, Sophie

Author's Response: Thanks for the review, as always! So the consensus is that I am an evil bitch. So okay. Cool things to come very soon.

AAUGH!!! I can forgive late updates, but cliffhangers - NO!!! Groan.... so Greenblatt is like a piece of cheese in a mousetrap, but this trap is to catch escapee witches and wizards? You're not going to let Severus get caught too, are you? Severus and Hermione should've just bought groceries instead of eating in a pub - would've been cheaper and safer. Did Neville succeed in killing Bella? BTW, 'The Man Who Sold The World' - is this inspired by the song by David Bowie? PLEASE UPDATE - SEVERUS TO THE RESCUE!!

Author's Response: No, Greenblatt is mostly what it seems: a Muggle town filled with Muggles. And some witches and a wizard. Yeah, they should have bought groceries--but the atmosphere wouldn't quite be the same, what with the fluorescent lights of the grocery store. As for Neville, you'll find out later, but it stands to reason at the moment that it is possible he succeeded. Yes, the title is from David Bowie's song. I heart David Bowie. Severus will not be coming to the rescue; Hermione's going to tough it out herself.

Oh, my goodness. I cannot believe that they have been found by another wizard/witch. Things were going so well. Please update soon!

Author's Response: Yep, and it's awesome. Update should be soon.

Oooooooooohh..... cliffie! Great Snape.

Author's Response: Yeah, Snape is doing his whole paranoid jumping to conclusions thing. Again. Silly boy.

I am Polish (from Warsaw) and althought I read a lot of English fics, I do not rewiew much of them, but because of Your story I simply had to. The main interpersonal story is quite good, and the circumstances make them more equal. But I wanted to ask, if you intentionally shaped Pureblood London into Warsaw in maybe 1941 ? Most of elements of the city was quite recognizable - various classes of people based on their race (German, Polish, Jew), destroyed important parts of culture, false identities (kenkarta - I do not know English name), educated people doing physical works ... But the thing that was lacking - was any resistance movement ! I simply cannot imagine this situation so similar to history of my city without the element which was the most important. I know that you had written that Snape is a Wraith, but he has no organization, and he cannot have even the food for himself. I think that there SHOULD BE a resistant movement, a group of people (probably some veterans from Order of Phoenix, former aurors, eager kids) fighting with Voldemort. First it could be destroying some parts of propaganada (grafitti), giving people better information about actual political situation. And then military action against Deatheaters (starting from robbing normal wands). All above was quite possible and was done in my city.

Author's Response: Wow, thank you for the review! And you are right, the story does not have a resistant element...yet. Wait until chapter ten; I purposefully did not write any bit of resistance movement until later in the story in order to set the scene and tone of the piece. I felt that the readers had to understand exactly what was going on in London and in Hermione's life before moving on to fight Voldemort. Most especially, I wanted to make it clear that Hermione and Severus are not going to save the world. They are only two people, their information is filtered and occasionally outright lies, and their impact on any situation is necessarily limited. The Wraiths will be coming up very soon, and more things concerning what is actually going on outside the ghettos will be revealed shortly. Thank you again for your well thought out review!

yay! that was a good chapter! gosh, u write such long chapters, but they are so riveting and fast-paced exciting that i hardly realize anything different. this was abit of a wakeup call for hermione, wasn't it? gosh, i still can't get over her hair being all short and prickly! erg. poor hermione. poor snape. am happy u updated. can't wait for another! -The Grim

Author's Response: Thanks for the review! But her hair isn't prickly; it's like a really soft brush. Trust me, I made bad hair decisions in high school. My friends would run past my locker and rub my head.

Thank you for not giving us a torturous cliffhanger. This story makes me want to cover my eyes in fear of what may happen. Great job!

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. I realized my last few chapters have been rather harrowing, so I figured I would give you readers a break until the next chapters are up.
