Reviews for The Man Who Sold the World

Lovely. The interaction between the two was nicely done. It would be impossible to expect Severus to turn up for her rescue at every moment, especially when she told him she could take care of herself and when he was also in grave danger. And it also felt realistic to have Hermione feel abandoned, depsite the nature of the situation. You've shown that they're walking this fine line of survival and budding friendship (or something more?). It's interesting to think of what kinds of relationships can and can't flourish in a time of great crisis. Glad to hear you're continuing with the fic. Even before HBP, you had placed them in a sort of AU world (assuming that JKR won't let Voldie rule Europe post book-7), and yet you always managed to stay true to characters' basic traits. I think that's still the case. Best, Sophie

Author's Response: Yeah, I never expected JKR to let the Death Eaters win, so the story really was AU. Not to mention the changing face of modern warfare (but I really do have a reason for making war in my story more like the Second World War than urban warfare--or FIBUA, in the Can. Military: Fighting In Built Up Areas--and the reason will eventually be clear). I just wanted to play with the Wizarding world and its relationship with Muggle reality in a warfare situation.

This story sounds interesting. Very unique and 1984-ish at the same time.

Author's Response: Thanks! I have to admit I have yet to read 1984, but it's on the list. I know, it's short, but Animal Farm was really hard to wade through.

Me! Me! I will! I think....Hermione will apologize to Snape, and then she will comtemplate the problem of getting a core for the wand, and then she shall wonder more about Severus, and they might get in to trouble with the new ministry..again.. I'm not sure depends on your mood. :3 I like the way you slipped in that tiny canon part about him writing in his potion book. Very clever. I completely agree with you about your analogy. xD Can't wait for the next chapter.

Author's Response: I had that planned before HBP came out! Drat! But I suppose it works, either way.

ooooo, this was an awesome chapter! first hermione and severus get to bitch it out, and then they make up. it was so cute the way he apologized-dont know if it was entirely genuine-but for now i will accept it as such. yay! so she has to get a unicorn hair, eh? hm, that should be interesting, to see whats happened to hogwarts amidst all this. i think that they'll have a nice talk that will possibly touch on some very private emotions...maybe. they might not be ready for that. you're the author, you write it, and i'll read it and see how i like it. (although i've been pleased so far, so i wouldnt worry). whatever you end up doing i'll probably like. thanks for the update! -The Grim

Author's Response: It was genuine, although his state of mind at the time may not have been. I'm really glad people are still enjoying this story. Or at least the people reviewing are.

I am glad to see you back on the job so soon after JK's release. This is an interesting story and cant wait to read more. I hope that you can update again soon as I can only guss as to where this story is going. Waiting until then.Bill

Author's Response: Heh. I sat from one-thirty in the afternoon on the Sunday after HBP's release until nine o'clock in the evening in my reading chair. I did not put it down until I closed the back cover.

Wow. I'd been postponing reading this story, but sat down and read all 14 chapters in one go and have to say--it's amazing! I think you're doing a really good job with the pacing, and with characterization. It's been interesting watching these new aspects of Snape's and Hermione's personalities reveal themselves over time, and I can't wait to see what's in store! (Not to mention, to hopefully hear more from Hannah or other members of the resistance, and get a more complete picture of what exactly prompted their reactions toward Snape--that's really intriguing.)

Author's Response: Wow, you sat down and read it all in one go? That's amazing. You have more patience than I; I can only write one chapter at a time, and it usually takes me a couple days.
