| Sorry I haven't reviewed earlier, but I printed the story out & read it away from my computer. I really enjoyed this story - it takes quite a grown up attitude towards the marriage law & I like all the pairings and how the characters respond to each other. I also liked the inclusion of an earlier wife for Severus & her effect on him - I thought you portrayed a very realistic reason for his past actions, which in some ways were very similar to eventual cannon. Well done! |

| Interesting. I found the plot that you chose to explore in this fic quite fascinating - the fact that it was not focused exclusively on the marriage but took into account the Malfoy trial, your original character of Maria and new kinds of magic all made for a good read.
I would say, however, that I wish you had slowed down. While Hermione and most of the secondary characters stayed in character, I found both Snape and Draco Malfoy stretching credulity at some points. Snape's softness is your privilege as an author, but I will confess that Draco's complete (and almost instant) turn-around was a hard one for me to swallow. This was also true for me of Hermione's parents and their acceptance of both her marriage and her pregnancy - I'm just wishing that the story had simply taken longer to come about, perhaps probed a bit more into the inner workings of the character's psyche's, etc.
However, having already started your "A Man of Faith", I can say that I feel your writing has evolved throughout this story and into that one, and I am thoroughly looking forward to reading further, if you write more. |
