| Severus and Hermione's gifts to each other may have slightly missed the mark, but Severus' unintentional gif to Argus was perfect: personal, something into which Severus will put time and effort; and it will make Argus' life better! (Poor Argus - and Tom Riddle came to mind as a reason for Peeves' years of quiet - i could see Tom testing his powers by trying to control Peeves . . . maybe Voldemort had some good points after all.) When reading this chapter, I kept hearing tne song "The Island of Misfit Toys" in my head (from the old "Rudolph" television show). Everyone in the house seems a misfit - at least with each other - and yet they are making the best Christmas celebration that they can and being (mostly) tolerant of each other. It's both sweet and sad - and probably closer to the true meaning of Christmas than the "perfect," gift-laden, artfully-wrapped, deliciously-baked, family-homecoming holiday that most people aim for. And Harry as a Healer is a good call - it fits him. | |||

| :D Love their awkward presents for each other! Tooo cute. Interested in the chemistry between Harry and Draco (but ive been possibly reading too many slash fics there ;P). Have we heard from Ron or Ginny? They seem a bit non-entityish. But gorgeous, gorgeous - very real and believable. LIV Author's Response: Hmmm. Perhaps I shall just say No Comment about Harry and Draco? :) You are right that Ron and Ginny are non-entities in this story. Honestly, it never occurred to me to include them, since it's a story about misfits and orphans, although I realize now that any lack of Ron in an HP story is a conspicuous lack. | I just started reading this story and I really like it's very natural pace. The characterizations seem very possible given folks living in a world that seems to have shifted upside down. I especially love that you have Malfoy being training for the aurory and Harry studying to be a healer. I look forward to reading more of this story!
