Wow, I have just recently discovered my love for time travel fics and yours promises to become one of the best fics in that category. You are so accurate in your decription and everything seems so likely. It is truely a great piece of work and I am looking forward to reading more of it, so please update soon!

gabi

Author's Response: I am also in love with time-travel fics. They're addicting! (And I hope mine becomes addictive, too.) Thanks so much for the review~

Great Chapter I like the middle to last part the first part of the chapter was a littel tecky for me. I don't care to know how she came about getting the time turner to work. The whole Longbottom thing too. But the other part was great with Snape and her. I like the detail to the characters thoughts showing both sides how they are thinking.

Looking forward to the rest of the story

Author's Response: Sorry if it got too technical. I wouldn't do it except that it's important for the story. And rather than do all the tech stuff at once, I'm trying to do it piece by piece. The Longbottom stuff was also part of the research behind the Time-Turner. I've just never liked stories where it was like, Bang! And now we have crazy cool magical marvel with no explanation as to how it exists. I figure that magic is a sciene and a skill, and as such, must have a lot of thought involved where innovation and research are concerned.

On the other hand, I completely agree with you that this chapter is VERY tech-oriented. And I can promise that the next chapter is completely dedicated to character interaction. So, hopefully, it will jive more for you! :)

Thanks so much for the honest review!

"Albus Dumbledore had a hunch." What a beautifully concise understatement. Albus Dumbledore always has a hunch! Of course, one wonders just how accurate his hunch is. I personally would find camouflage and disappearing spells to be quite suspicious. Does he think Hermione and Snape are in cahoots? Then again, this is Dumbledore. He always seems to know more than he ought to.

I wonder how Snape will react to Hermione's sudden kidnap. I can't imagine that he would be pleased. But on the other hand, it seems that this would just make Hermione seem that much more enigmatic, and it seems that he really likes that about her. Well, that and the frustratingly curious fact that Hermione is wary of him, but not repulsed by him. "Hermione speculated that perhaps it was her mother’s genes that urged her to take on so-called lost causes. She looked at him askance, and he had the feeling he was one of those causes. The feeling both warmed and unnerved him." I doubt Snape could ever resist a puzzle such as this!

I am curious just how you are presenting time travel in this story. In your version of time travel, is the time traveler capable (and possibly culpable) of changing past history as they know it a la BTTF, or is the time traveler unable to "change" the past having been a part of the past all along. Hermione's thoughts about "the repercussions of time travel" seems to suggest the former interpretation, whereas the results of Hermione's intervention in the Hog's Head seems to suggest the latter. Or do you have a working third theory that I haven't considered yet?

On a final note, I loved the reference to "time travelling by train." Once again, way to tie the two stories together!

Author's Response: Dumbledore - I love, love, love dabbling in Dumbledore's omniscience. That's all I'm going to say on that for fear of giving more away. But I'm really pleased you liked the last line so much; it was one of my favorites to write this chapter.

Snape - Yes, he is very intrigued by Hermione. No, he will not be pleased. This conflict of interests will be what chapter four is all about.

Time-travel - As you've pointed out, I've made MANY references to BttF. I did this to show that this story falls in with that theory of time-travel. Hermione is both capable (and potentially culpable) of changing the future due to her actions in the past. We have also seen in canon, however, the idea about being part of the past all along. I'm doing a combination. It kind of goes off the idea in the first Bttf. When Marty goes back to 1955, he winds up pushing his dad out of the way of the car, thereby wrecking the moment where his parents are supposed to meet. This would cause him to eventually fade out of existence, but he manages to get them to kiss at the Under the Sea dance (which is when they had previously fallen in love). So, they still fell in love at the dance, but the circumstances leading up to the kiss were altered. I guess that means there is more than one way for the future to happen. But also, like Doc says, "The future hasn't been written yet." So, it's also possible for these actions in the past to change the future. In the instance of the prophecy, Hermione's actions could have been: a) the way the whole ordeal originally went down, thus incorporating Hermione into the past; b) an alternate version of the past leading up to the same result (like the eventual kiss at the dance in Bttf). I don't think it really matters either way. But there will be more events like that. There will also be events in true BttF style wherein her actions change the future.

I'm really, really glad you're enjoying my interpretation of time-travel. Thank you so much for the in-depth review!

Reader's Response: So far, I'm three for three here in picking out lines that are "one of my favorites to write this chapter." (Either that, or you are just humoring me, but I'm going to hope for the latter!). Now I'm going to have to play the Try-To-Find-One-Of-Alphafemale's-Favorite-Lines-To- Write-This-Chapter-By-Picking-Out-One-Of-My-Favorite- Lines-To-Read game for every chapter!

Author's Response: I know! It's a GREAT game. And I'm really not humoring you. It's all kinds of exciting to repeatedly read that my fav lines are your fav lines, too. Woo-hoo!

I really like this story. Can't wait for more updates.

Author's Response: I'm glad you like it! Updates should be fairly regular. I'd say every 1-2 weeks. Thanks!

Severus tossed out by Hermione? Very interesting possibility. We know that Severus was still Voldemort's man at that time thanks to Dumbledore, so I wonder how he will react when he Reapparated with Hermione.

Author's Response: That's what chapter four is all about! And without giving anything away, I think we all know Severus (in any incarnation) won't take well to being manhandled out of information. Thanks for reviewing!

Interesting developments...I wasn't quite sure either what side SS would be on? :-)

Author's Response: That's what I love about this time frame. Snape's loyalty is extremely vague. And Hermione will certainly be trying to uncover which side he's on in the next chapter. Thanks for reviewing!
