| This was a lovely story - wonderfully in character to the very end. Romances can be so hard to write with contained, complex yet quiet characters like Snape but you manage it beautifully - Snape keeps his sharp wit and you manage to show how they slowly come to understand and love each other without trite saccharine scenes. The divorce and falling apart of Ron and Hermione's marriage is beautifully realistic. Wonderful job! Author's Response: Thanks so much. They're a lovely pair to write. | |||

| I'd like to congratulate you on another excellent fic. Into the North is one of my most cherished fics. Although I like reading the student-teacher ship fics too, your approach is so much more plausible.

| Great story... very well written and a very enjoyable read... I also wanted to comment on you're belief that no adult man would find an 18 year old intellectually challenging enough, or mature enough, for a relationship. When I was 18 I got involved with a man 22 years older than me. He had two children, both around my age ( a daughter a few years younger, and a son a few years older). The problem turned out to be quite the opposite of what you suggest... After a five year relationship, I was the one that felt unchallenged intellectually - I outgrew him, but we have a beautiful daughter to show for it even if we went our separate ways.... The point is we can't assume that all 18 year olds are immature, or that all older men are mature. Age is one of the old limiters that push people apart - without good reason. Author's Response: You bring up valid points. Certainly there are exceptions, and I think that the stories which show a young Hermione with Snape are examples of that. The problem is, there are so many stories of that sort that it makes happy endings seem like the norm. Certainly if Hermione became involved with Severus when she was older, it wouldn't be such a bitter pill for Harry and Ron to swallow! | |||

| You did a great job with this story, being fair to all the characters. You didn't villify Ron and Harry, you just made them hman. You truly managed a "no fault" divorce and had the families of each ex-spouse still caring about their former in-laws. Author's Response: Thanks. I've read so many Ron-cheating-on-Hermione stories that I want to pull my hair out sometimes. On the other hand, I can really imagine them growing apart. | |||
