Reviews for Snape, A History

You are SO good at writing out Severus' and Hermione's interactions! One really believes that this is actually the way they'd behave with each other. I repeat: You are SO good!

Author's Response: Thank you. I certainly tried to capture the two of them in character. Nothing worse than an OOC Snape or Hemrione!

You are so realistic (well, as realistic as depicting a fictional character can be) in showing Severus and his interactions with Hermione. Her, too, of course--but let's face it, Severus is the truly difficult one to get just right. And you have done that--extremely well.

Author's Response: Thanks! It's truly a lot of fine to write Severus. Brings out the inner cynic.

Oh, the pain in Severus' last line! Yet bitter irony or not, the fact remains he told her the very thing he started out telling her he would not. In spite of himself, there's trust building, whether or not he wants it. Very nicely done!

Author's Response: I think you have to sneak up on him; once he senses what he would perceive as an attack, all defenses would be up and running. Thanks!

Well-crafted story, with everyone in character. Definitely a sympathetic portrait not only of Snape but of Hermione and Ron growing apart. If anyone came off a little unsympathetic, it was probably Harry, but that's believable especially pre-DH! I really enjoyed it. Thanks!

Author's Response: Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I couldn't bring myself to paint Ron as completely unsympathetic. I really have nothing against him, as long as he leaves Hermione available for Snape!

Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your story. I tried to read it straight through but finally had to sleep. It was very moving and I loved it.

Author's Response: Thanks so much! (and I'm glad you got some sleep)

Lovely story! I think you portrayed Snape perfectly. It fit that he was doing so well for himself, but didn't inform Hermione and it was also so Snapey, to avoid bonding with his daughter for so long. I'm glad that Hermione and Ron made up and that everything worked. Happy endings are the best! Awesome job!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! It's a treat to write Snape and Hermione; you can put such delicious words in their mouths!

I loved this. You entertained me completely with this slow, gentle climb to romance. You paced it just right. Great work!

Author's Response: So glad you enjoyed it - and sorry for the very late reply.

Great story! I totally agree that Hermione and Ron would probably not do well in a marriage--they're much better just as friends. Like you, I prefer Hermione to be a little older (in the past I didn't, but then I started teaching high school and I realized how immature 17 and 18 year olds really are).

Author's Response: In some of the fics I've read, Hermione has the maturity of a 40 year old. She may be smart - and usually right - but that doesn't mean she's mature! Thanks for reading (and good luck with the teenagers).
