| Please accept my condolences on the passing of your father-in-law. I just love your story. You did a beautiful job in showing why SS becomes the man that he is. The way that you depict his motivation for his meaness and unfairness to Hermione during her years at Hogwarts is sheer perfection. I can understand (but not agree with) why SS allowed his feelings of hurt & betrayal to lead him to make the terrible choices that he did. All of the characters have their flaws (some bigger than others) but I still hope that they come to their senses and allow themselves a chance to make things right. I will be waiting for your next chapter like a kid waiting for Christmas. Author's Response: Thank you very much for your condolances. Your thoughts are much appreciated. Thank you so much for your compliments. I have put so much of myself into this story and to receive such wonderful reviews is an amazing feeling. I worked on Severus' characterization hard for the chapter preceeding Hermione's return. We have seen in canon that he does hold grudges, so I thought he might act this way towards Hermione. Severus allowed himself down a dark road when he thought he lost Hermione. Now he has to reevaluate his life. Everyone does have flaws in this story. So many times characters are depicted as perfect in fics, and I just don't see that as normal. I think I have tried to make everyone fully human in this story. It's nice to know that I am succeeding at least a little bit. Thank you so much for your wonderful review. Chapter thirteen in awaiting validation now. Hopefully, it will be up soon. :) | |||

| Wow that was an intense chapter! It was so emotional for all characters (Snape, Hermione, Dumbledore, Pomfrey) Snape's last comment was rather brutal I thought (especially after what Hermione's been through) although I think it sums up exactly what Snape has been feeling for the last 20 years. It would be unbelievable if he just confessed his undying love for her and forgot what he went through for so long. I'm sure there's more fireworks to come...
Author's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed this chapter. I think it is the best I have written to date. I poured as much as I could into writing it. Severus is being very brutal. But, you're right. He can't heal from years of hurting at the drop of a hat. He cares, he just doesn't know how to go from there. There are definitely more fireworks to come. Thanks for your fantastic review! :) | |||
