| I am new to Denial, so I did not read the un-edited version but I have to tell you I already LOVE this story. Though it is a Marriage Act story it is not cliche and the plot is so very unique. I love the Way the plot develops at its own pace. The interactions between the characters in Denial are very believable and I really like your way with words. I am already looking forward to the next chapters! | |||

| I am so happy to see this story again, I remember it fondly and I was so disappointed when you took it down! I am getting a little tired of the repeated reviews from the person who is so angry about Hermione being arrogant in the beginning of this story because she expects Severus to be grateful she saved his life. I mean, that's the point of this whole story, right? Theo is an immature, selfish child but so is Hermione, at least in the beginning. OF COURSE she is going to be arrogant, and self-absorbed. That's why she refused to listen to Severus's advice about Theo, because she was so convinced of the "Snape just hates me, so he's trying to ruin my happiness" thing. That's exactly the kind of thing a child would think, that she is so important that Snape has to make a special effort just to be nasty to her. That he has nothing else going on in his life since then that may be more important to him than harassing an ex-student that he hasn't seen in a few years, no matter how she might have annoyed him.
This story is about growing up, about Hermione maturing and becoming a woman, and Severus's increasing interest in her as a friend (or more) as she does so and "develops" into a good partner and equal for him. Everyone does stupid, insensitive, selfish things when they are children. Most of us (hopefully) grow out of it and become adults. The best thing about Hermione's disaster of a marriage to Theo is that it has made her grow as a person- rather painfully, but there's often some pain involved when we learn from our mistakes and "put away childish things". Hermione grows up over the course of this story, and Theo so far hasn't and probably never will.
You do an excellent job of getting in the characters' minds, for right or wrong, that makes for great storytelling. I know what's coming in this story, but I am sucked in again and eagerly awaiting the next chapters! Hermione better hope she's not in the middle of a delicate brewing session when that ring starts to burn! Author's Response: Thanks so much for this review, JL. You are totally right about Hermione. She is immature at the start of this. Let's face it - who isn't, when they're fresh out of college? But yes, she has grown through the story, and will continue to do so. | I doubtless did say the same thing on Petulant Poetess, though I had forgotten. I have had the urge to continue with the rant here every time Hermione brings up the subject in subsequent chapters (“I’m a noble Gryffindor and I saved your worthless Slytherin life and DON’T YOU EVER FORGET IT!” Because no one ever does anything for Severus Snape out of pure human decency without expecting something in return.) but I have restrained myself, mostly. It makes me wish the pairing weren’t SSHG, because Severus does not deserve to have this particular version of Hermione inflicted on him. Looking back I see that you told me over on TPP that she gets nicer to Sev, but she seems merely to be getting stupider. It’s far, far too obvious that Theo is already treating her badly. What’s so terrible about moving to the States, Herms? People don’t actually get shot down in schools and cinemas very often over here, statistically speaking. | |||

| Nooooo, you can't end it there.. >.< I came across this story of yours when I was waiting on another to update.. I must admit that it captured me completely. I love it so far and I really can not wait for more.. Thank you for deciding to post it again.. This is truly a Gem and I'm soo happy I decided to check it out..
