Venla is great, though, I too wonder what she does in the middle of nowhere buried in snow. | Great update, the only thing wrong was where it ended; I really, truly, need the next update soon:-)) I hope you are feeling well again and that your health is back on track, trouble breathing is among the worst things to suffer.
I am glad you had Hermione tell Severus that they should have a new start and that she couldn't be expected to know everything out of the blue with little and no information at all. Hermione migth not have to ask so many questions if someone actually in advance either told her the necessary information or where to find it. (Not every detail, but at least the basic of things). No one will make me believe that Severus would take one step in any direction without knowing as much as possible, why is everyone expecting the opposite of Hermione? While the age difference doesn't matter to me, and hopefully them too later on in the story, lets not forget that Severus is the teacher, quite a few years older, meaning that expecting Hermione to know just as much as Severus is either a hugh compliment or total ignorance. Besides, being a mentor means helping and teaching the protoge, aint it? If he can't do that, maybe Hermione would be better off with the twins as mentors, as crazy as that sounds. She learnt more about being a mage from some minutes with them than all the time she has spent with Severus after all. I think so far, Snape has been a very sucky mentor. He's trying to cope with being forced into this situation on the one hand, but on the other hand, the good side of him knows, sort of, that he's the only man to do it. There are just very many little circumstances at work, his reserves, prejudices against Golde Trio, insecurities and her being an irritant sometimes. But bear with me, ole' Snape will work it out, one way or another. Just give the glum bastard some time :) | |||

| Hmmm, I wonder if Hermione will learn Snape's "type" anytime soon? I'm rather curious. Author's Response: She definitely learn his type. Maybe not as soon as next couple of chapters. And maybe what she'll learn will create more questions :) I hope that's not too evil :)) | |||

| First of all - so sorry to hear about your allergy accident :( I hope everything turned out well for you without any long lasting consequences.
Second of all - this is one evil ending of a chapter! :) By the way, I love your wintery landscapes, it somehow contrasts very well with summer beginnings in the real world. And Venla is fun :) I imagine her just like Luna's long lost older sister, the way she seems to be totally unfazed with force majeure *cough Severus cough* :)
I also liked the scene where Hermione managed to keep herself from stomping her foot and asking obvious questions which she usually does trying not only Snape's patience (mine too!). One more step to maturity. Brava.
But still - what an evil place to end the chapter! Author's Response: Aww, thank you - and thank you for commenting on my lj, too. Everything's just fine with me :) Wintery landscapes are my weakness. I'm a northern gal in eveything and wouldn't change my seven months of snow for anything! | Wonderful, an update - and I'm very shocked to learn about your accident with the wasp and your long stay in the hospital. I hope you're now safe and sound. This Venla-midwife is quite the surprise for S., very funny that she's so young and H. her first 'child' to deliver. Though I think she's up to her task, I feel sorry for her: it must be somewhat lonely to be the only one of your kind on the whole world - there's no possibilty of colleagual chats. Nice cliffie at the end - I'm very curious to see what kind of mage she'll be Author's Response: Hee, yes, the wasps are evol beasts!
