If it's possible for a story to be both melancholy and filled with hope at once, you've accomplished that with this. The clean, spare writing set the perfect scene: a marriage devoid emotion at first, but then somehow -- I rushed through all six chapters because I couldn't stop -- you managed to inject the warmth of their growing friendship.

At the end of this chapter, I realised I was as invested in the idea of them remaining friends as at the beginning I been invested in the possibility of them falling in love.

Poor George! Although this chapter was shorter than the others, I think it served as a useful transition for what will undoubtedly be coming up next. The last sentence provided a nice, ominous clue as to how the Ministry will react.
